View Full Version : Mitsubishi DA-A30 Speaker Relay Problem

I used this amp for a couple of years but finally shelved it due to a speaker relay problem. Seems that it clicks on/off for no apparent reason, regardless of load, in no particular pattern, whether there's a signal or not. Sometimes, cycling the speaker switch on the rear apron will affect it--good and bad--so I'm wondering if there's some sort of 'threshhold' adjustment on the PCB that needs to be tweaked. I've retouched all the solder joints on and around the relay and switch which made no difference at all. It's a good-sounding amp and the cosmetics are outstanding but this bad habit has gotten it a long-term time out.

Hey, on a related subject: this is the third Mits amp and preamp that I've had and they all seem to lack that punch-in-the-gut bass. Design flaw or are they all prone to some cap problem I'm not looking for (yet)?

Thanks

What's the DC offset? If it looks good, then the driver transistor or the rest of the protection circuitry needs attention. Not too uncommon on old amps.

Can't comment on the sound...haven't heard one for years.
