Well this is odd I got around to draging my fancy J pole antenna into the living room to hook it up temp to the TX-9100 and it doesn't produce any better results then the 18" chunk of speaker wire I hooked the 300 Ohm inputs. One the signal strenght meter it reads very high 4.5+ (of course so did the speaker wire)

But the tuning meter never centers it is always to the left of the center mark. It does react but is not centering.

I am also seeing some sort of voltage fluctuation the dial lights will change intensity. I don't hear anything listening with head phones while it dose this.

Am I looking at a bunch of work a specific problem or just a good cleaning with DeOxit?

Or with my luck has no one ever heard of this and I'm on my own LOL

Closing in on 500posts real fast now.

Your tuning meter problem is probably a combination of being out of alignment and dirty ground contacts in the front-end. The dial lights could be a number of things, power supply or bad solder joint would be my guess.

X when you say dirty ground in the front end are you talking about somehting that cleaning the pots with DeOxit would help clear up or something else?

I've pretty much decided that once I have the system up and running I'm going to one at a time have each piece completely gone through by a tech. And will most likely start with the tuner.

Nope, just spraying deoxit into the pots isn't going to fix it. It been discussed before on how to clean the frontend. I don't recommend it for a DIY job. Cleaning usually throws off the alignment, If you don't clean it correctly you can totally trash the front-end. Even when cleaned correctly it usually requires the front-end to be realigned.

Thanks Punker X I think I'll just have both the Amp and Tuner completely gone through we have a tech local who is well versed in this Pioneer stuff so I'll give him call. That way at least I don't have the expense of shipping it or the HUGE worry about it taking a couple more trips with the Post office or who ever. Though I think from what I have learned here about shipping stuff I would just build a wood crate to start with maybe with metal bands LOL
