That model came out pretty recently. I'm surprised someone put it up for sale already. So what tipped you to the set-neck CCT over the various neck-through-body models?
I have had an attraction to Carvin guitars ever since they used to advertise that star-shaped V220 in Creem and Hit Parader. But, over the years I've accumulated enough guitars of other brands that I can't justify getting a Carvin to fill an unmet functional need.

You had me stumped for a moment about how my love affair with Carvin started and then it dawned on me that, back in the early nineties, I wanted to make my own electric guitar (for some strange reason, think I fell into a vortex or something... :scratch2: ). Anyway, I crafted the body of the guitar out of a childhood desk made out of hardrock maple. I copied a PRS guitar for my design. At any rate I needed a neck and electronics for the rest of my project. That's where Carvin came in. They sold (and still sell) kits.
Don't you know, that guitar actually ended up sounding pretty damn good! It was heavy because of all of the maple, but it screamed.... :thmbsp:
Fast forward a few years...I was so impressed with Carvin stuff that I baught a used DC127 on ebay. Their craftsmanship is superb! No shit! I think their pickups are on the weak side so I retro'd mine with Seymour Duncans and now it's....
Anyway, their California Carved Top is basically a PRS clone at a fraction of the price. I'm happy that it will keep me doing what I love and hope to keep rockin' on for years to come.... :thmbsp:

Now, now... You folks that wanna keep my guitars for safe keeping need to keep something in mind. Something of equal value for me to hold until I get my property back....Say, a priceless Playboy mag collection dating back to '65, a years supply of beer or your album collection from the dates 1973-79. I would even pay to ship those albums but they would have to include a Pioneer SX-950 to do them justice. Don't worry, when my guitar arrived home safely, I would ship your stuff right back!?!

I don't have big money for guitars and I've only been playing for 2 years(but starting to sound like I know what i'm doing)I have a Epi Lespaul Setneck plugged into a new fender blues junior. Not a bad setup for around 800.Although once burned in one of the output tubes started to go red and the sound would go ,So I swapped the outputs and thesame tube is now going red in the other socket so I guess it's just a bad tube el84 groove tube w/fender logo on it.If new tubes don't fix it tomorrow I'm gonna buy that epiphone valve special .I checked out a pawn shop saturday and picked up a like new black mex fender strat for 180. 1995-96 going by the serial no.Can anyone recommend what pickups to put in.Love that easy slide maple neck. They also had a like new black fender mex strat lefty for 150.I'm thinking about grabbing that tomorrow and making it right handed change the nut and adjust the intonation.Kinda Hendrix but I'm lefty thats plays righty. It's funny my wife knows nothing about the strats !!I don't know how long I can hold out.HEHE What's she gonna do ??Leave me ???HAHA

Hmmm,I have'nt seen a lude since 1979 were'nt they stamped 714??Made by Rorer ??So anyway the blues junior was fixed with new Peavey packaged Sovteks and sounds great again .13 bucks for the pair !!Apparently the junior runs too many electrons thru the outputs and quickly cooks them!!And I'm thinking Texas Specials for the strat .Someone grabbed the lefty before I got back too the pawn shop.Mark

714 Rorer (later Lemmon) were the stamps on Quaaludes. As for the guitar, I personally am in love with my Jay Turser JT 135sm.

and according to all the reviews I've read on it, a lot of other people love theirs too.

It happened again...!!! FedEx delivered another geeetar to the house... :D This one is a black PRS Tremonti SE. I was playing her and she's not bad. All Asian electronics...
When I can swing it I will gut her and put good 'ol US parts in her and she will sound a hundred percent better. That's down the road. Always good to look ahead! :thmbsp:
Pictures when I get the chance. Rock on my brothers and sisters! :music:

Hmmm,I have'nt seen a lude since 1979 were'nt they stamped 714??Made by Rorer ??So anyway the blues junior was fixed with new ... We got billions of 'ludes( alledgedly) into the early eighties in NO. California, then they were halted immidiatly and suddenly by the Pharmecutical co.s and the Govt. Yes Rorer 714...flight seven fourteen, we used to say..
