I've tried web sites like Audio Classics, AudiogoN, and AudioWeb and nothing for the last few months. All my local pawnshops and audio salons are pretty low-buck.
Any other ideas??

View Full Version : Looking for an MC202 Tom Blasing 01-07-2006, 07:48 PM I've tried web sites like Audio Classics, AudiogoN, and AudioWeb and nothing for the last few months. All my local pawnshops and audio salons are pretty low-buck. Any other ideas?? Victor 01-07-2006, 09:30 PM No other ideas for finding a MC202 but here is an idea for you: MC252 :). I have listened to tha MC202 and MC252 and I think the MC252 is a step up in sound quality and the MC252 uses LED fiber optics, so no bulbs to burn out. If your local McIntosh dealer is willing to give you a good deal on a new MC252 I would think it would only cost $500-$1000 more than a used MC202. If you don't have a good McIntosh dealer my local dealer in Indy has a MC252 you could listen to, he might even sell you the demo. My local dealer basically got the MC252 in for me to demo. I was very close to buying the MC252, of all the McIntosh stereo amps it was my favorite, but after taking home a pair of MC501s to demo I decided to pass on the MC252 and save up for a pair of MC501s. Just something to think about, Victor Tom Blasing 01-08-2006, 01:14 AM Thanks Victor- Would that be Audio Solutions? Would they give me a price over the phone? There's a dealer in Dayton, OH but I haven't heard of anyone dealing with them before. Victor 01-08-2006, 09:45 AM Tom, Yes that is Audio Solutions, they have been great to me. I bought almost all my audio equipment there. I have not been to your local dealer but I would recomend you try there first because local support is a big help. I'll send you a PM with some info. Victor JRG1 01-08-2006, 04:47 PM Hi To, I found my MC-202 after placing a 'wanted' ad on Audiogon last spring. Great seller & mint condition. I will need to replace bulbs as Victor mentioned at some point, though. Good luck, John |
