Ok, how many of us know our UPS driver by name?
I do :boink: , his name is John, and I have actually left a nice bottle of Merlot for him before - just to say thanks. We do want the drivers to WANT to come by, eh?

Yes, his name is Rocky. I must confess I went to school with him. Does that still count?;)

Well, I ship out 40-90 packages a day in my internet business, www.hondacuraworld.com, so I've got an excuse :D

Mine is generally know as AH, but he has improved since I told him most of my deliveries were of antique tube audio gear and easily broke, in fact I haven't noticed him dropping a box or kicking it after he dropped it since I explained the facts of ownership to his supervisore. We do now talk and get along great as well.

I wouldn't want to leave a bottle of Merlot for my delivery guy. He might get the wrong impression!!

I call my delivery guy by a certain "name" but I doubt its the name his parents bestowed upon him.

My UPS delivery guy is Rex. Helps to get to know them if you can.
Don't have to worry about packages being left in the rain or where they can be seen from the street when I'm not here. He knows the kind of things I am having delivered (antiques) and seems to take care of them.
Wish I could say the same for his buddies that handle them before him! :thumbsdn:

Don't know mine's name, but he is a very nice young man-always in a hurry, not much time to socialise. I do wave at him whenever I pass him in the UPS truck. He's a good-looking fellow-if I was a girl, I'd be flirting big time w/him....<grin>-Sandy G.
I know the USPO ladies name (Debbie), the UPS guy (Neil) and the Fed-Ex Air guy, who's name is of all things, "Guy". Anyway, my business depends on these people, so I see all of them several times a week.

A cup of hot coffee would probably get you in good graces with your driver about now.

My UPS guy is Woody and he got a nice Crown Royal gift set this year.
Rich, the mailman, got Bacardi Gold.
Rob the auto mechanic gets a case of Silver Bullets every year.
Early morning newspaper guy just got cash.
It is also important to remember the Waste Management guys this time of year. Each man on the truck gets a bottle of Bacardi Reserve. It is interesting to see the results. My skinflint rat bastard neighbors don't part with money if they don't have to. They also get a lot of stuff left at the curb on garbage day. If they don't bundle the tree branches just right, or if they're longer than 3 feet, the shit is waiting for them when they come home from work. Me? I could put a whole tree at the curb and those men are taking it. I could put my FAMILY by the curb and the Waste Management guys would trash them. They are not about to mess with that holiday bottle of Bacardi.

Our UPS driver is J.R. and he is a great guy, he has even carried heavy receivers down to my shop. Sadly, we may lose him because they bid for routes and he may lose ours to someone with more seniority, so he got his Christmas card early.

You have skinflint rat bastard neighbors too? :lmao: I also have a good neighbor on the other side so it evens out a bit.
usps dude is Jeff. Heckova nice fellow who takes great care in delivering my audiophile lp's to me. He usually gets a gift card of some sort. I had not considered a gift for the garbologist though. Maybe if did, They would actually get out of the truck and and grab the bin on the rare occasions that I forget to pull it to the curb.

Cheaper than free lunch is what I have right next door. If John is the Waste Management associate on a given day, my cans will be brought up the driveway to the garage door, with the lids on. Then he'll get in the truck and drive over my neighbors cans. The Circle of Life.

We have an old pithy saying down here- "You can catch more flies w/Honey than you can w/Vinegar". Looks like you fellas proved it ! -Sandy G.

UPS is Jeff, FedEx is Richard, USPS is Tom, and they all get Xmas goodies; usually Rum for UPS and FedEx, Gift card for Tom, and I don't know FedEx Ground, as they seem to be different each time?
Jeff has been "working" with me for close to 8 yrs. now, after I moved my studio/office into the house. He really gets gifts more than just at Xmas time, and yes, I believe sugar vs. vinegar; sure works better for me, as only damaged package I ever got was when Jeff was on vacation once.

and usually they put it on the porch and go. I know one guy by face not name at UPS and I recognize and really like many of the USPS people. The assistant postmaster is William Zuercher. One day I found his name in the obituaries...it was a typo! He's a bright fellow and an excellent postal worker.
We both shrugged over the false alarm :scratch2:

My USPS delivery person is a real nice lady named Sonja, she brings in all my packages into the house and sets them on the dining table! Oh yeah, she's my wife. I usually give her a more tradional Christmas gift - the ole' yule log.
Sandy - Why would you want to catch flies? I swat 'em.
