I went to a real live estate auction last night and one of these showed up. Well, it followed me home of course. I looked all over the place for the other one - no joy... It is a heavy (47lb) 3 way speaker system. The foam is completely shot on the woof. If anyone wants or needs one of these, let me know. The cabinet is a bit beat up, but looks presentable. Darn, I wish I could have found the mate to it!
I can drag out the dig camera and post a pic or two if anyone cares to take a look...

Someone in the family must have got all the other MC stuff before I got there. This was all that was left for me...

It's about the size of a large Advent. It's lonely by it's self.
Or maybe this was just a sneaky way for me to get over 100 posts?

Depending on the age of this speaker, there may not be a match at the house you were at. It may have been used for a mono system. At least that is how I make myself feel better, every time I drag home only one speaker. :D

Man, that is one butt ugly speaker. I wouldn't bring that thing to a cockfight.

I need a woofer for my ml-1c.
It may be the same part number. 036-001
If it that part number I'd like very much to buy it from you.

Mono! Ya, that could be the ticket. Toasted, you are right, it is butt ugly. I just could not resist something that said McIntosh and was that old. I am a sucker for this stuff. At least it may be able to help out bobinaz. I'll open her up and check the numbers this afternoon..

I think the use of foam surrounds post dates the days of mono, but it might make a nice center channel speaker for the HT.

The ML series came out in the early 70s. The 10 was the very bottom of the line. The components are all but impossible to get and a lot of owners want to keep them going. I am not a supported ot eBay but AFTER the war, when things die down, offer it and you'll make a Mc vintage lover VERY happy and thankful. Shame you did not find a pair of ML-4Cs. Oh, maybe better you did not unless you like walking bent over.

I know your post about finding the single McIntosh speaker was an old one, but thought I'd try anyway! I'm looking for the Peerless tweeter that was used in this speaker. It is a 2-1/4" Tweeter, and the McIntosh model number is 036-012 for the 8 ohm tweeter, whcich is what I'm looking for. If you have any of htese and would like to sell them as a part, I would be interested.
Thanks,
Don

I see now from the pics that there is only one of the 2-1/4" Tweeters in this speaker. I need 8 of them! You might get some good use out of this speaker by having the woofer foam surround replaced. Shouldn't be difficult to find a place to do it, and it's not to expensive. Cheers!
