Well got the new TV all hooked up, doing this has involved the changing around of the whole house, kids bedrooms as they switch TV's, he gets the 27" TV and the entertainment stand, she gets his 19", stand and VCR. Her old 13" TV/VCR combo goes in the kitchen. 51" HDTV goes in living room, all amps and stereo and HT equipment (excluding DVD, VCR and cable box) move to other side of living room. Also my CV's swap spots with the Altec Model 15's since I don't have the room to get the CV's 3' away from the TV and the 15" woofers rattling the floor right next to the HDTV would be bad. So the Altecs will be the front speakers in HT mode and the CV's will be the rears, with the floor loaded 15" woofers becoming the subs for HT. With all the stereo and HT gear going on the back wall of the living room I had to bring my computer into our bedroom. So there was/is a lot of stuff to move around and a lot of wiring and cables still to run. I took some before pictures so I will be able to show the before and after.

Was all this worth it?? Hell yea!!! The TV looks absolutely stunning, I must have a good cable signal because cable looks surprisingly good and DVD's look unbelievable.

These TV's are not for the meek, when you first recieve them the factory settings are all screwy ( they are optimized for the bright lighting and environment of store settings not for your nice dark living room) and it takes a lot of fiddling around with all the various settings to get the picture just right. I was kinda worried I made the wrong decision after the first day since the picture was so bad outta the box, after the 2nd day and a lot of tweaking I felt better, and then last night I watched "Blade" on DVD and it just looked f@#king awesome!!!! And I haven't even fixed the red push or done any of the more complex tweaks including getting an Avia setup disc so I am really stoked cuz the picture will just get better!! I can't wait till I have the surround sound all up and running too!

I found these websites a big help:

I would have a certified IFS (I think that is right) technician calibrate the guns and color for you to NTSC certification. Your set will last longer and the pictures will look much better.

I will do that if there is a tech that can do it in my state (Maine) after the break in period (if I can afford it).

Which TV did you buy? Brand/Model??

EDIT: Nevermind, I saw your other thread. How are you liking your new Hitachi rptv?? I think I'm gonna go with next years XWX or SWX 57" model. Hopefully by then they'll have incorporated HDMI along with IEEE 1394 (firewire).
