Found a JVC QLy66F in perfect condition...needs stylus...otherwise pristine.
Worth $39 bucks?

If the answer is yes, what would be a good cartridge/stylus upgrade??

Thanks

Check the pic I posted ( post nš. 2 ) earlier today in another thread

Donīt walk, run.
Easily worth more than that if in mint condition.
As for cartridge upgrade, which one is in it now, and whatīs your budget?
Also, does the phono stage in your amp / receiver take MM and MC?
I know, I know, questions, questions, questions...

Those big ol' heavy S-shaped arms (if so equipped) are just ideal for an MC, like a Denon... or your personal favorite. Big $, but worth it for many. You'll probably need a step up transformer or pre-preamp (head amp).

Man that's a nice turntable. Do you really have to ask if it's worth $39.00?!? Go get it!!!

$39.00...got it. Works fine. Perfect condition. Seems to have a ground problem. There's a buzz in the speaker. It goes away when I connect alligator clips to the mechanism that raises the tone arm. I have the normal ground from the TT connected to the amp...but the buzz is there until I connect the clips as described...

Now, help me with the cartridge. I am running a sansui 9090 as a preamp. I also have the Onkyo M503/M504 pre amp amp combo...

My budget is 'reasonable...' I enjoy vinyl much more than CDs...hard to find but worth the search...I would guess there is no limit on what one might spend for a cart/stylus...
but what would you all suggest as practical and rewarding?

Dire good find, I recently purchased a Stanton 500 AL 2 to use on my Dual and was very happy with the sound quality and tracking. I did not want to spend alot. I'm qiute happy with it though.

in addition to the above the ortofon om10 or om 20 & audio technica at 95e or at 110e should give you a decent sound for not much money to get you going cartridge wise...
