WOW! Congrats and nice pics. I heard a SX1980 some years back driving a pair of JBL's.
Sounded great, as good as any receiver or seperates I have heard. Some people think it's the BEST Pioneer ever made. Hard to argue with that.

Hey, congrats! One-owner SX-1980s in that kind of shape don't come around very often. Considering that one sold a few months ago for over $2,300 in not as nice of shape, and with no box or manuals, I'd say you did GREAT! Make sure you set DC offset and bias current (http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5634) to factory specs, it really makes a big difference in sound quality on these big boys. Congratulations! I was thinking of going after this piece too, but after reading your comment here, I'm glad I didn't start a bidding war and more importantly, someone at AK won! Let us know if the unit is as good as advertized.

Hey Ganz007, I don't want to rain on your parade, but the real time for congratulations is when it arrives safely and in the condition it left the seller. :yes:
Are you collecting it or is it being entrusted to the safe keeping of UPS / DHL / etc. ?? If it is being shipped then PLEASE make sure that the seller knows how to pack it properly - I've heard too many disaster stories recently, and I'd hate to see something as wonderful as your SX-1980 get trashed through carelessness. :tears:
