Ok Where the heck can I find spades that fit on McIntosh amps without Moding them. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Grumpy, If you mean for speaker wires, I use automotive type
solderless crimps on on mine. I also solder them anyway. Can never have too good a connection!

Thanks I have tried those and yes they are the right size. What I am looking for is something just a wee bit nicer in the same size. The Auto style ones oxidize rather quickly.

Grump I usually end up having to cut off an arm of the spade to make it work. I know how you feel not wanting to do that. Seems like a waste to buy nice spades and then be forced to damage them to make em work.

Grumpy, The ones I have are copper below the aluminum coating.
Maybe if you wire brushed the aluminum off? Odd, I live 1/3 mile
from SF bay at a point directly in. I haven't had that problem, but
I can't have anything plated otherwise! Europeans use solid
brass connectors mostly, another thought. Or maybe just form and solder wire lead ends and skip connectors?

I thought you were getting some Cardas. What happened with that?

I did get the Cardas but they need some serious trimming to fit. For now I am just using one side of the spade. I figured there's gotta be someone out there making a small spade that's better then an auto store one.:dunno:

can you take a picture of what your trying to fit to and then give dimensions of what you need?

Hey Grumpy, I was looking at hand-held scopes and ran across these.

2 pages worth, gold plated.

I seen those and ordered a set of the daytons but they are way to big. Now something like the Phoenix gold speades may work.

Ward the spades can be no more then 1/4 inch wide and the inside needs to measure 3/16ths. They would look just like this.

Can't ya just wrap the wire around the post? :dunno:

Ya get a better connection if ya solder the wire to the speaker:stupid:

You can get loads of aluminum ones at RS. They probably conduct better than gold plated brass which is what most are selling.

try radio shack...They have a seperate listing for various special interest items that are not stocked in the stores, but must be ordered. I have purchased some nice gold plated ones that fit perfectly and come in just a few days. Hope this helps.

I would just buy the aluminum plated copper ones. Alum and gold conduct about the same, just take it down to the copper where you solder it on for a copper to copper contact. Think of all the milk money you can save.

You need 3/16 spade and the only place I found on the net is:

http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/audioquest.html#1010

Also, A hongKong guy on ebay is selling a converter to use banana plug on Mac:

Personally I was using compressing pin and tuck it under the screw and it works fine as well.

I have a Mac MX110, and a Marantz 8B that I'm going to set up.

Which of the connectors do you all like for them?
