This is probably the only tv series the Mrs. and I watch on a regular basis. I thought the first couple of years were good. The show was new, intense, and exciting. But my beef with this show is that the writers appear to have lost their creativity or have writer's block. It's the same story, same location every year. You'd think the White House was in LA, as 4 seasons worth of Presidential nightmares has transpired from there.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the show. But I seem to enjoy it less with each season.

I was relieved at the end of last season when Jack faked his death and went into hiding. I assumed they were retiring the series at that. This year I really, really did not want to get sucked into it again but I did. The series is the standard-setter for unrelenting suspense but along the way there are so many threads left dangling that would be fascinating to explore, and that has been the case in each season. I realize it is inherent in the compressed time frame in which the action occurs, but often when I think the series is veering into a really cool topic, it turns out to be a passing distraction thrown in for a momentary jolt.

Wonder if Jack's sudden reappearance will trigger a diplomatic standoff with China to complicate the search for the missing nerve gas.

I never got started on 24, so I never got hooked, but I can relate. The wife and I were talking just last night about how CSI has gotten so repetitive and dull that we just didn't care about it anymore. Seems like that's always the way - The creators leave after the first few years, and the folks hired to keep it going just don't quite have that same spark, for lack of a better word.

Wait a minute, it isn't in LA?

What next, are you going to tell me Martin Sheen is no longer the President?

Well there definitely is an element of fantasy to it, in terms of the James Bond type impossible situations that Jack finds himself getting into. But that's a big part of the fun. On occasion it has been like the show Nip Tuck, where the writers are clearly trying to raise the "shock value" bar (being forced to chop off your future son in law's hand to save the world, or being forced to cause your fiancee's ex-husband's death must rank pretty high on the shock value scale).

Personally, I would have gone home with the big redhead rather than the scrawny blonde.

I have to admit a bias for redheads as I married one too.

Yeah, it was really bugging me when I first saw her. I had to go to the IMDB to figure out what I had seen here in before.

Age has made some improvements I'd say.

i do agree with the fact that you can only do so much with a show like 24 i mean how many times can the US be on the virge of disaster, and have one man.... count um one man come to the rescue. But i watch it every week.
she does look better as a red head !!

As a bump to this thread, last night's was the absolute worst episode since I got disgusted with it in the middle of season 2 and stopped watching for the duration of that season. I vote to kill them all off next.

I liked it, they killed of a major cast menber (Edgar) and, in the tradition of Star Trek, all the guys in the red shirts bit the dust. :D

Yet again, 24 shows that CTU's security is about on par with your average Greyhound bus station.

The nerve gas thing was about too much. They may have jumped the shark.

What EW said. Along with a bunch of other shit that's been building against it lately. I can suspend credulity only so long before it's more effort than it's worth. Also, bringing back that dreadful hack person as the daughter character just about puts it over the centerfield fence for me.
