My home theater is also Denon based, but a slightly older series (3801). I have nothing but praise for the unit, never a problem, sounds pretty good considering the crap I'm using for speakers (hey, they were practically free)!

These units are quit versatile and easy to set up.

My biggest problem is using the remote- usually just tell my son what I want and let him do it.

OK- it's really because he usually has the remote and won't let me change the settings:p:

Enjoy

Hope you have a pile of RCA cables, your going to need a bunch to fill all those back panel jacks.:)

It will look like the preverbial rats nest on the back, when your done!!

I made a diagram for the whole installation before I started, it helped ...... I think:(

Everthing in my HT system is a different brand, so had to lay it out on paper first.
(receiver, tuner, VHS player, DVD player, 6 speakers, etc)

My only disapointment was the tuner section of the receiver. Wasn't near what I was used to using, so added a black vintage tuner.

Let us know the Denon tuner works.

Good luck with the install !

All metal huh? That's good. Metal sinks a lot quicker than plastic. :D

Enjoy the new boat anchor~ ;)

I think I have enough RCA's, my video stuff (DVD, cable, VCR, Xbox) are all hooked directly to the TV already and I already have all the RCA's for hooking my amps up. I have a 20' RCA (since the amps and the receiver are on the opposite side of the room from the TV) one will be the digital coax and one will be the video monitor (for the onscreen display of the receiver) and a 20' and a 12' with some connectors, to bring my MP3's from the PC's new location in the bedroom out to the livingroom.

I might need, depending on how my music sounds through the Denon, is a bunch more Y's cuz if I like music through my vintage Luxman pre better, then I will Y all my amps inputs and have both the Denon and my Lux pre hooked to each and use the Denon for HT only and the Lux pre for music only. I won't know which until I do some testing and some listening. I am interested in hearing 6ch stereo ;)

I definetely need a crapload more speaker wire tho

I heard the Denon remotes are really bad....

...Thor, I would read through the manual completly and when your done, do it again and finally a 3rd time, and any fuzzy area, read it over efore you mess with it ;) :D

congrats though, seems like a nice unit.

Hi again Thor;

Oh you know of course that teasing you is among the ten top things I enjoy doing.

The HT receiver looks fine but I'm not one to give advice or judgment on that kind of gear as I just have no experiance with it.

One thing is for sure, it's good that you are not into hi-end designer interconnects and speaker cables as you would go broke wiring that thing up. ;)

NW the remote will only be used to set it up I will be using a universal touchscreen remote for day to day use.

Lefty mebbe someday I can afford them ;)

NW you are certainly right about that I am wayyyyy too lazy for TT! Actually I am even too lazy to play CD's thats why I use MP3's and my computer is my source, 1800+ songs just push play, have winamp set to random and I could go 5+ days and never hear the same song twice. It's a beautiful thing ;)
