Just got a new tonearm for my table (Rega RB 250 with the Expressimo Counterweight and stub) that had been re-wired with Cardas Litz wire, straight shot, no connector, all the way to the rca's.
This is real obscure stuff for me. I wonder if anyone has played with different kinds of tonearm wires. Does Cardas have a sound of its own? Neutral? Accentuates highs or lows?
Just trying to get a handle on the HUGE difference in sound with all my TT mods.

I am told by a friend I trust that Cardas wire sounds great anywhere. Any time you eliminate connectors things get better. It depends on the resolution of your system. You may have more accurately mounted the tone arm and cartridge, so don't blame it all on wires.
High resolution systems seem to contain a certain amount of magic. Listen for the improved strengths you had before, not to the negatives that have been erased.

Regas are very tweakable!

I have Cardas wire in my TT (it was stock) and I have no complaints.

Cardas tends to be more on the neutral side. Their expensive stuff is very, very good.

Sorry, I don't know much about Litz wire specifically.

I never "got" the Rega thing...I have taken home several Regas, P-3's especially with different Rega carts, and never found them to have sound anywhere near as good as my former Linn, the Linn Axis, much less my current 20+ year old Sondek...

I have also heard their RB-250 and RB-300 tonearms on Basis, VPI's, and other TT's and never got them either....

That is until I heard a Rega RB-300 rewired with the Incognito kit....WOW! Now I understand.

In fact, that one used Basis 1600 with the rewired arm, spurred the fellow I work for part time to start handling the Incognito kit....about the third one I installed was for one of my best friends...a Basis 1600 with the RB-300, Benz Glider, Phonomena phono stage, Reference Line Silver passive attenuator, Assemblage 300B Signature amp, Soliloquy 5.3's....

We spent a large part of the afternoon listening to the stock tonearm in his system at his house....then, we installed the Incognito kit...Gordon was blown away that this one change did so much in his system.

I guess I have rewired somewhere near 3 dozen Rega arms with the Incognito and NOT A SINGLE PERSON has been disappointed and all feel like the arm has taken a giant leap in quality.

So, it sounds like you have a rewired tonearm using the Incognito kit.

I just wish I had the guts to take my Ittok LV-II apart and rewire it with one of these sets....but, I guess I'll just have to do with my XLO reference phono interconnect...man, I can do anything with that Linn but mess with the tonearm, too many horror stories and admonishments to just leave the sucker alone!

So, feel good that you have one of these rewired tonearms, those kits are very hard to get, they come from Germany, and the guy who builds them is often incommunicato....in fact, we're trying to get more now with no replies back from the fellow...

So it goes in the world of audio....

The Incognito kit uses Cardas cable...not sure which type though.

While Cardas makes a few DIN-to-RCA cables (Cross, Golden Cross, Reference Cross, etc.) they only make one set of wires for the tonearm. 33ga with your choice of colors. Welborne Labs sells all of the Cardas phono products and connectors. Haven't found another source, but am sure there are several.

Did a search on PE for Cardas and they gave me a page of Dayton and Monster ICs.

I rewired my well tempered arm with cardas cryo'ed wire. Cardas clips too.

Got it from www.takefiveaudio.com

Just FYI, there's what the Incognito kit consists of...a gold plated brass plug that fits in the base of the Rega tonearm and one unbroken run of Cardas tonearm wire from cartridge tag to RCA plug....

Had Gene from Take five audio do exactly the same thing with my SME Series lll wand and base, very happy with the outcome, everything just seems to be cleaner and sharper, like someone took a blanket off my speakers.....
