:music: I just signed up to the yourmusic.com website. If you have not seen this, it is worth the time IMHO to check it out.I used the search engine to find the songs or artist's (much easier than scrolling through) and they even show different artists in the same segment when you look up an artist.Once you find your way around ,this site is very cool. :thmbsp:

Just a few minutes ago I brought in my yourmusic.com packages. Prompt shipping and I'm keen to give them a listen. Got the boxed set of Led Zep, all nine of there studio albums.

I glanced at the site briefly today, and figured I need to spend some more time trying to figure it all out. And more importantly, if their selection is sufficiently eclectic that I can find much of anything I want on a regular basis.

I just got my email confirmation that my first que was shipped today.
I don't know if it's diverse enough for me either, but I'm finding enough stuff to wet my whistle so far, especially in the multidisc sets.

I have been a member for over a year. They don't have much in new music that I like (indie rock), but I have been buying SACD's for $5.99 and filling in my classic rock collection. I got a lot of Elvis and Johnny Cash from them. I have had zero problems with them. You can't beat $5.99 a CD.

I got my first order from them and could not be happier ! Where else can you get 9 SACD, 2 CD and one 5 disc set for 95.00 ??

The 9 SACD's would have cost me about 180.00 alone round here.

Good deal and No shipping to boot. Plus they kick back AK for orders ? Its a no brainer :)

How do I make sure they kick back to AK on my orders?

John,

I believe its only for new customers that AK refers to them through the Yourmusic banner that is located in the main forums category next the music forum. However its worth a shot to click the banner even if you were an existing customer. Thanks

Just checked out the site. Boy i could go crazy with a service like that, but once again being in Canada i don't have to worry about that. We never get deals like that over here.

Chris, I am waiting on an answer back from them, about my email question. I want to see if they will ship all my orders to a US address, but charge my Canadian credit card. I will report back when I hear from them.

Where is this place based? US or Canada? It seems like a good deal. $6 is unheard of.

The shipping labels come out of South Carolina. For those that do not know Yourmusic is actually BMG/Sony. Cutting out the middle man is one way to keep the prices low.

I signed up earlier today. The don't have a large selection. I got the impression they are a clearing house of sorts, but managed to get over a years worth of CDs in my queue. I'm sure they will expand their titles by then. Either case, can't beat the price with free shipping.

I have been a member of BMG since 1991 and their catalog is much larger. Deals can be had if you wait for the buy 1 get 2 free specials after the intital signup offer, but just wanted to try something different with Yourmusic and get the kickback for AK. :thmbsp:

Thanks Ernie, i'm interested to see what the reply is to your email. Sadly i have found that all these types of services in canada really lack selection to them. I've had to just buy stuff to complete sign up obligations, and that's pretty bad that I can't find 6 cd's to buy in 2 years since i listen to just about anything.

Tip of the day: To search for SACD's just search albums for SACD and it will list the SACD's available.

I finally have my main system where I am happy with it, so I have been back in the mode of spending all of my extra cash on music. Ordered a handfull of jazz cd's (7 actually) that I have been wanting a few days ago from yourmusic.com. Now I am just awaiting their arrival.

Interesting note: Following up on Grumpy's comment about yourmusic being owned by BMG/Sony, I went to the BMG music club website and the offerings (at least in jazz) were identical as far as I could tell. So, I signed up for yourmusic and BMG to see how the prices compared. BMG has the "get 12 cd's for the price of one" deal. So, I ordered my first 7, paid for one the next day, and ordered my 4 additional cd's. Total price since they charge you for shipping on the "free" cds was $50.56 or $4.21 per cd. So, BMG was slightly cheaper at first, but once you use up your initial special, the prices are really high. So, in the long run I think that yourmusic will be much cheaper and I intend to cancel the BMG subscription as soon as my "free" cd's arrive.

The good news is that I now have 19 jazz cd's on the way to my house thanks to this thread. The bad news is that I have $92.49 on my AMEX thanks to this thread.

About searching for SACDs, you have to search under "Album Title" for "SACD".

Took me a while to figure that one out!

Tried it for "DVD-A" but it picked up a bunch with "bonus" DVDs so gave up.

I subscribed via the click-thru here, BTW. Queued up six months and bought two. Californians pay sales tax.

As to selection, they do claim to add titles over time so don't expect to fish them out in one trip. They can notify you of when new titles are offered but you can't pre-select SACDs.

My queue at yourmusic.com got up to 18 months before I decided I just had to have 4 of the cd's NOW! We'll see how well I do with delayed gratification.

Did you ever hear the boxed set from about '92?

If so, how does the sound quality compare?

BTW: I just attempted a few searches at Yourmusic.com and I had no luck after about ten artists searches :( I guess their not in to prog

After reading this thread, I joined. I received my first selection NIN [WITH TEETH] HALO 19 DVDA, a DualDisc with DVD-A on the DVD side. :thmbsp: The disc has "Mfd. for BMG Direct" on the back cover.

I'm also disappointed in that my selections turn out to be backordered although I don't blame AKers!

What good is it to queue up a disk or place an order and then find out days later that it is unavailable? They should only offer what they have to sell! Isn't that a clear business concept?

All-in-all, Yourmusic.com looks like a place to get lucky, not a place for regular supply. Kinda like GW.

For those of us with esoteric, or just off-beat musical tastes, there are no backorders at yourmusic.com. After all, how many people are queued up for a CD of the 1st and 2nd beach Boys albums. :D

Did your back orders come in. Mine were filled and I'm good too go. Have to say so far I have been extremely pleased with yourmusic.com

One of the big detractors to me was the price of digital media and YM.com has really lightened the load on my wallet.

One of my backorders came it but others remain. At these prices, one can't be too picky.

How does one search for DVD-As?

BTW: just got my "Marvin Gaye Collection." It's a SACD hybrid but the SACD stereo track sounds like poor AM radio, albeit without the static - harsh, bright, and not euphonic at all. Must have had piss poor master tapes.

How does one search for DVD-As?Good question. Sony/BMG are not DVD-A friendly. That may be the reason there are no results when one searches for DVD-A. One needs to know what one is looking for and then see if yourmusic.com has it. Not easy but worthwhile. I just ordered and received Jackson Browne's Running on Empty dual pack (DVD-A and CD).

One can also search "DualDisc". A few of the Dualdisc titles are DVD-A on the DVD side. I recently picked up DVD-A DualDisc NIN [WITH TEETH] and Jamie Cullum's twentysomething. Good hunting and Good listening!

All the jazz and classical SACD titles I've actually received I've been really happy with. A lot of them have been backordered, and a couple were discontinued. All appeared to be identical to retail packaging.

The Rhino reissue of the Ramones' End Of The Century lacked the paper sleeve of the retail package, and also had a non-standard UPC with 'Mfd. for BMG Direct' on the label. But it was half of list price, so no complaints here.

My wife is happy; she can replace all her screechy first-generation CDs with the newly remastered issues at almost no financial hit.

I checked yourmusic.com out after seeing the thread here. I thought this was too good to be true but so far, so good. They don't have everything but how can you beat $5.99 a cd and free shipping?

I now have something to look for in the mailbox instead of bills.

Yeah, I'm still hanging around. I guess I don't have much to say. I do chime in if I have something intelligent to add. That fact severely limits my audio posts. My purpose here is to absorb some of the vast knowledge that resides here.

Besides if I say something you don't like, you might accidently "lose" some fuel passing over my house. :yikes:

Now if you want to talk about my favorite beverage, quality beer, then I'll have some useful info for you.

I just received my SACD copy of Charlie Parker & Dizzy Gillespie - The Quintet: Jazz At Massey Hall and brought it to work to listen to. Problem is, a co-worker is listening to it right now and won't give it back. He threw $6 down on my desks to order another one for myself. Maybe he should sign up or I need to order 2 of each.

Two of my backorders had been cancelled by Yourmusic.com

Fritz Reiner : Bartók, Concerto For Orchestra (SACD Hybrid)
Fritz Reiner : Strauss, Also sprach Zarathustra (SACD Hybrid)

That is 4 SACD's that I have ordered that they cancelled.

A little hint.

If you type SACD as (SACD), a fourth page is revealed. :thmbsp:

Also, (DVD), but not so much.
