Don Knotts (http://donknotts.tv/index1.htm)
Just heard he died this morning. I certainly enjoyed his portrayal of Barney Fife as well as "The Incredile Mr. Limpet" and "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken". Not an Olivier or Burton but an enjoyable actor nonetheless.

:beerchug: For one of the funniest actors I can remember, always had me laughing especially when coupled with Tim Conway in "The Apple Dumpling Gang"

He sure was.
I loved those times on Andy Griffith where Barn got all important serious and started lecturing Andy. Or the times he'd draft a bunch of townies, like Otis, Gomer, etc, for some special mission and get all puffed up telling them what to do. :lmao: :lmao:

No actors today are like Don Knotts or any other actors that were on the 'good' shows that are now on tvland. Even though i am young, i have been watching tv land since i was 12. Just like nothing new is made as good as vintage, neither are actors today as good as actors from the 'good' shows era. I even have a tin portrait with the men of mayberry including Don Knotts, Jim Nabors, Andy Griffith, and Ron Howard. Don Knotts will be greatly missed.

I read that Andy Griffith was at Knotts' bedside with this family when he passed away.
If you've not seen it, do yourself a favor and watch the movie No Time for Sargeants, which Knotts and Griffith did together before the TV show. I think the Broadway play of that was the first time they'd worked together.
My grandfather loved the Andy Griffith show, had a cat named Barney after Barney Fife. Ugliest tom cat ever, looked like he'd lost every fight he'd been in with the scars to proove it -- Foe
