From 1981, film of live performances by Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, a young John Hiatt, a 20 year old Steve Earle, even 2 songs by my hero Gamble Rogers, and others. On DVD. Damn. Must order now.
Also, the Townes biography film from last year, Be Here To Love Me, gets DVD release 3/14.
The credit card takes another hit today.

Well, I'll be unlimbering some plastic as well. I his LP "The Lord Gives Me Grace, and the Devil Gives Me Style" that I have cared for lovingly since I bought it in 1977. A coworker who had relocated from Florida turned me on to him; now I'm going to look for more.
"... I responded to this visual phenomenon of unslaked carnality by proposing marriage to a one-eyed waitress who happened by..." from _Penrod and Elfrieda_
"unslaked carnality" -- oh, the times I've used that line!
Thanks for the tip!

I've had this since its DVD release - musically it's kinda spotty but a great, rough documentary of the scene, nevertheless - some hilarious real-life stuff there as well..TVZ is pretty funny, in a miserable way, and David Allan Coe's appearance is as disturbing as ever..also worth mentioning are Larry Jon Wilson's performance & the wasted party/jam session at Guy Clark's place (bonus material)...

Surprisingly, for me, Townes was hilarious live.

Saw him twice in '93, a couple of years before his death, while touring Europe.. the years/lifestyle had defintely taken its toll at the time, the onstage jokes were kinda forced and he raised few eye-brows by rambling something about his last chance to visit the places he always wanted to see in the Old World...

I picked this up locally yesterday and just finished watching it- I'm a sucker for stuff that has a few of my favorite artists ever performing back in the day. The extras are excellent- a young John Hiatt doing an excellent tune, among other gems.
