I work at a library. I take advantage of checking out cds. Then I might tape them. Using high-grade or metal tape, using the very fine Aiwa AD-S750, I get superb copies on tape.
I'm laying down Forty Licks right now. Yes, I have most of these tunes on old tapes, but they are some good old tunes. Besides, I 'get' to use the big stereo.
