If you use the 'Insert Hyperlink' button, the one with the little blue Earth and the paper clip, you just 'copy & paste' the URL in the box provided.

BTW, I fixed the link in your OP. Just part of the AK service.

I did use the hyperlink button with the earth symbol and I did a copy and paste but it did not underline. And thankyou so much for fixing it for me. Cheers Peter

The hyperlink has two parts, the first one for the text, and the second for the actual link. Looks like the link went into the first, and the second was empty. Anyway, it's all good, now.

Im after the STA-2250 and the STA-2500 but unfortunately he wont post to Australia, I would be gratefull if someone could get these for me in the US and either photocopy them for me in PDF format and email it to me, or send them on to me in Australia, I will cover the cost of the manuals and postage. Cheers Peter

I've sent him and email for the STA-2250 manuals. I think there are a couple of owners here looking for the manuals. If I get them and scan, where could I post them for all to have access?

Hello, I am looking for a Relaistic Sta-820 Service manual. I have looked almost everywhere with no luck.
I went to the ebay link listed here but he does not have one. Any one have any ideas where a copy of this manual can be purchesed.
Thanks jrw442

I know it was a year ago, but SOMEONE bought these for $5! If you read this, can I get a copy of the STA-47 manuals, please?

If someone offers to scan, I would be happy to host in a similar fashion as I already do for the Pioneer Manual Database (see link in my signature).

Are you looking for a schematic? It is in the owners manual....

Good luck finding any Realistic service manuals. I was looking everywhere for an STA-78 service manual, couldn't find anything. Fortunately the amp section is pretty basic on that model so I was able to get it all straightened out, but I wish the manuals for some of that great realistic gear were easier to come by. When I was looking I came across this same thread from 2006 too, wonder what ever happened to all those manuals :scratch2:

I have been looking all over for the STA-860 (31-2097) manuals / schematic and the SCT-30 (14-603) manuals / schematic. The STA-860 receiver has been cleaned and everyting works, but the FM seems to be "stuck" in mono. The stereo led does not come on. I checked the mono switch with aux input and seems fine. Also, the Auto-Magic led does not light when engaged and the tuning seems to shift the station location on the dial. The SCT-30 cassette deck is in nice shape, but probably needs belts to get the tape moving. Please help a newbie to AK. Thanx.

Take the cover off, locate the tuning gang. Tune to a more distant station that still comes in well- ideally something between 99 and 104 on the dial, and adjust the trimmer caps that are on top of the tuning gang for strongest signal. the larger sections are the AM and the 3 or 4 bladed sections are the FM. If you only have 2 FM sections on the gang, the one furthest from the wheel is going to have the most interaction with the oscillator, so you need to confirm via the tuning indicator and "Stereo" indicator that you have it adjusted for strongest signal, and check for dial accuracy at the ends of the dial. If your needle lines up off of where it should be, and you have adjusted the trimmers for strongest signal, check to see if AM is off the same amount- if so- just loosen the indicator needle and relocate the needle so it is correct. If the AM section is correct and FM incorrect, in the vicinity of that oscillator section of the tuning gang, there will be a slug tuned inductor- this is the oscillator- only adjust it with the correct tools, the wrong tools will only break slugs. but ultimately you want to adjust that oscillator enough to bring the pointer location to the correct indicated position on the dial. Under normal circumstances, this will only entail slight amounts of adjustments- less than 1/4 turn is typical. Magnetic screw drivers can interact with tuning, so if you use one, adjust- pull it away, adjust- pull it away until you have zeroed in on peak reception.

Now- if there is a problem in the demultiplexer, this will be revealed becuase these trimmer adjustments have no effect on the demultiplexing, they only have impact on whether or not you get a signal to convert to stereo.

One thing too; if you see a small pot in the demultiplexer- this is most often the adjustment for the threshold of the stereo indicator. This is much more common on car stereos, but some home audio has it too. That adjustment should be made last, and it is a simple matter to tune to a stereo station, and it must be dead on the station- "S"s should sound clear- not lisped. Then adjust that pot so the "Stereo" indicator is just evenly lit- not flickering; then see if it goes out as you move off that station. It should go out as soon as you reach a point of lisped "S"s. if not turn it back so it does go out, then tune back dead on the station- indicator should light.

If AM/MW is important and your reciever is weak on AM as well- tweek the AM section first before doing anything on the FM, and pick a weak station on the upper portion of the dial, this way you do not undo what you just did just for FM in case you start turning the wrong can, (you have not got there yet). - always mark the starting point of the inductor so you can set it back the way it was. If Am reception is weak, if you can correct it simply by adjusting the trimmers, you should be fine in most cases. You should use the tuning indicator to indicate strongest signal, whether it is just tweeking trimmers or if you go so far as to peak the 2 AM IF's. If you do need to touch either of te AM IF cans, always check for linearity of tuning on the dial- if everything is bunched up in a non linear fashion- you need to detune the IF's slightly- keep checking for dial accuracy as you proceed. If you get linearity and the stations are evenly off on the dial, correct this via the trimmer cap on the AM section furthest from the tuning wheel and adjust to correct accuracy of the indicator.

Now, up until the reoganization, Radio Shack used to have all the manuals online- all of them, and each one had a schematic- how readable in some cases was an issue. Radio Shack might still have some of their home audio manuals online. if not, email them and ask them. Beats buying an Ebay copy of something you could download for free.
