I just can't get enough of this new forum. You guys need to make more posts. I need more (and bigger) Infinities. I can't take it anymore :nutz: . I need help.......finding some RS 2.5's, Q2's or Q3's or or any other models. Thanks guys, like I didn't already have an addiction.

Hehe, fun ain't it? I'm actually enjoying this new forum more than I expected. As to your wish list, well, let me help you determine the real models to drool over.
Servo-Static IA (http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/Electrostatic-series-since-1968/Servo-Static-IA/body_servo_static_ia.html)
http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/Electrostatic-series-since-1968/Servo-Static-IA/Servo_Static_IA_9.jpg
(Guy on eBay recently threw away a pair of these keeping only the bass amp to sell. Bragged about the act!)
Quantum Line Source (http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/Quantum-series-1976/Quantum-Line-Source-QLS-1/body_quantum_line_source.html)
http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/Quantum-series-1976/Quantum-Line-Source-QLS-1/QLS_1_7_1a.jpg
(Pair of these was recently parted out locally rather than listed for sale. Seller claimed he was actually "saving" the speakers by parting them out rather than trashing them. Bull.)
RS-4.5 (http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/Reference-series-1+b-2-10+A+B-1981-86/Reference-Standard-4.5/body_rs_4_5.html)
http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/Reference-series-1+b-2-10+A+B-1981-86/Reference-Standard-4.5/RS_4.5_11_1.JPG
RS-1b (http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/Reference-series-1+b-2-10+A+B-1981-86/Reference-Standard-1-1b/body_rs_1.html)
http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/Reference-series-1+b-2-10+A+B-1981-86/Reference-Standard-1-1b/RS_I_2_1.jpg
(Almost happened into a pair of these a couple of months ago for a ridiculously low price, but just when the deal was being finalized, the seller decided to part them out instead!!!! :tears: )
Infinity Reference Series Beta (http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/IRS-series+Beta+Gamma-Delta-Sigma-Epsilon-1988-95-98/IRS-Beta/body_irs_beta.html)
http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/IRS-series+Beta+Gamma-Delta-Sigma-Epsilon-1988-95-98/IRS-Beta/IRS_Beta.jpg
Infinity Reference Series V (http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/IRS-series+Beta+Gamma-Delta-Sigma-Epsilon-1988-95-98/IRS/body_irs.html)

Well, that does it for today's lesson.

I've been lusting for a pair of the RS 4.5's since I got my pair of there little sisters.
And I'd seen the RS-1b and the Series V before (way outta my price range) but the rest you listed JP look like obvious winners too :thmbsp:
Your gonna drive Mac even crazier :D

JP, you bastard :D . I was trying to be reasonable. Seriously, if anyone hears/sees anything Infinity on the east coast that they are unable to take advantage of, I am in desperate need of treatment for this incurable disease.

One thing to remember (charivari correct me if Im wrong) the Beta and the Reference mid drivers are no longer repairable. The servo subs are still considered the best ever made.

If your referring to EMIM's?
Most are repairable, unless totally fried.

What's the point in dreaming/drooling over impressive speakers when they aren't the TOTL and thus all the more worthy? Yeah, I like to stir things up. :thmbsp:
Wineslob, you're mostly correct. However, replacement diaphragms are still available -- they're forever being listed on eBay -- and rumor has it that Infinity might start making them again. Even after the replacement diaphragms go the way of the dodo, burnt traces can still be repaired be it either via the simple method of using a rear window defroster repair kit or those who specialize it such as Army's friend. Having had an EMIT apart (no, not the much more impressive and complex EMIM), I believe that even if the Mylar of the diaphragm is shredded, it might still be possible to build a replacement by etching a new pattern on aluminized Mylar of the proper thickness -- though this would be no easy task.
Oh ... wait ... you're right. The Betas are not repairable and will all be bad within the year, better give me any available sets for disposal. :smoke:

I think the L-EMIMs are very hard to repair, but it EMIMs on eBay all the time. OTOH, I think L-EMIMs last a long time if not overdriven...or so I keep telling myself.

NT, when you said you had to get me a set of Beta's, THOSE were the speakers to which you referred??
Tell you what. I'll buy the Beta's, you buy me the new house in which they will live.

Nice but too rich for my blood. At least for now. I would also prefer to have the Watkins woofer in whatever I get.

I think it was the EMIM's that I heard weren't fixible if they were too far gone (burned). I've seen 2 "Beta's" come up on E-pay, both sets had "damaged" EMIM's and the sellers stated that they were selling them because they couldent fix them. I also heard that the drivers degrade over time? It would be very cool if Infinity started making diaphrams again. I've never heard a set and would love to, one day.

If you find something near me, and yes troy is near me, I would hold them with no problem.
I'm not boxing and shipping them, but hold them no problem.

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. Now to plan the possible trip.
Jason if you plan on picking these up at the fest, if you like and we ask Retro real nice, maybe we could demo them a bit with his Spec 1 & 2 setup.
Just a thought!
