View Full Version : Anyone have experience with NETFLIX?
I just signed up for the free trail last Thurs. night and I got my first 3 movies today! Seems like a really cool service. For $20 a month you get unlimited DVD rentals and can have 3 DVD's out at a time. The send them to you with a postage paid envolope to send them back. Everytime you send one (or more) back they send the next available title(s) in your list out to you. They have just about every DVD ever made.
Since DVD rentals are now $4 apiece here where I live (also 5 night rentals so it is tough to find ones you want) I will easily save $$$. I also have a tough time getting them back on time :( and am always paying late fees ($12 worth last time)
It seems like a good deal. Has anyone else used it??
Here is a link if anyone's interested:

THOR, I have no experience, and it seems that the rest of the board also is in the dark.
This puts you on the leading edge! (sounds better then 'this makes you a guinea pig:p: )
Actually, I'll be interested in your experiences with Netflix. If you post positives and negatives you have with the experience, then others like myself can make a better informed judgement on whether the program is worth the cost.
Course, if there's a lot of negatives, we'll just thank you for your efforts and warnings to stay away;)

Don't know the name, but a few people at work here use such a service and have been pleased with it.....

Well so far so good signed up last thurs night at like 9pm got my fisrt 3 DVD's on Monday. I plan on watching one today and putting it back in the mail today so I will report how long it takes for them to recieve it and send me my next one.
A big plus is that they have a really large library to choose from including a lot of foreign films and IMAX titles.

Since no one else is going to reply, I guess it's up to me.
I've been using Netflix for over three years and I have been very happy with the service--with just a few (to me) major quibbles. When I first joined the service and you rented a multiple-disc movie, you were sent all of the discs. Now each disc is a separate rental. Also, turnaround time has increased as the service has become more popular.
Other than that, it's great. A much wider selection than you're likely to find at your local Blockbuster.

i have been using netflix for about a year, and i think its great. no loathsome returning of the damn things to the rental store, and you can do as much vertical and lateral research on titles as you want, and there is never anything they don't have.
i love it.

I was considering NetFlix but Hollywood Video (which is just a few blocks away) started a $20 a month rental plan.
You can have 2 items out at a time, dvd, vhs or games, new release or catalog. No late fees, keep em as long as you want em.
It works out perfect for me as I can take my little girl (3) over any time she wants to pick something out.
So, if you have a Hollywood Video by you, it's something worth considering.
Well I have been using Netflix for awhile now and I really like it, I put DVD's in the mail to return on Monday and I have new ones by Friday or Saturday to watch. So far they have sent me every movie on my list including new releases.
Just an update I have had Netflix for about 4 1/2 months now and I looked at my rental history and I've gotten 50 movies from them  Thats more than 10 a month, do the math 4 1/2 months at 19.99 = about $90 dollars, 50 DVD's from local rental store at $4 + change = $200! Quite a deal I say, and no late fees! I'd pay over $200 just in late fees ;) I like the service so much and with the cold weather on it's way i.e. - lots of inside the house time coming up, that I just upgraded my membership from the $19.99 up to three DVD's out at a time to the $29.99 up to five DVD's out at a time one! I highly recommend the service to any movie buffs out there! :thmbsp:
