Someone gave me a Dual 522 which at least looks like it's working. I turned it on and it went round. I haven't hooked it up to anything yet. It looks like it could be an at least fair TT. I'm thinking that I may give it to my sister along with a few records. Any thoughts on the TT? Does anyone have an English manual? I found a German one on vinylengine but since I don't speak German it's not as useful as it could otherwise be.

It's not bad... made around the time of my 1257 and quite similar in appearance:

Not as good as maybe a 7-series but nothing to sneeze at either.

I got one for $15 last week. A damn sight better then the 514 it replaces in my rig. I just gotta fix the cue lever.

Thanks for the info. If it checks out good, I'll give it to my sister. Any recs for a good but inexpensive MM cartridge that would fare well with this TT?
...and I'd like to be able to give her an ops manual so if anyone has one....

If you want to go up to say $70 or so, an Ortofon OM10 Super would be a great match for that low-mass arm:yes:. That's my recommendation. Others may have lower-cost alternatives.

I could do $70 (and may) but I was hoping for something a little less expensive that might work well with the table.
