I hope that some of you out there can help me.
Lately i've been searching for a nice vintage high-end turntable, but apparently that can be quite expensive!
And i missed out on the Sansui XR-Q7 on Ebay the other day. :dammit: I was really hooked on that one.
Furthermore i must admit that looks of some vintage TT's doesn't appeal to me.
Obviusly performance comes first, but the design of it dosn't have to look as if it could have been made in the sixties, don't get me wrong, i'm from the sixties myself, i'm not trying to put anyone down :)
So - after giving it a lot of thought, and reading through reviews, i'm seriously considering going the exact opposite way, and buying a brand new Pro-Ject RPM 6.1
Designwise i quess that either you love it, or hate it, i myself was struck by it's massive appearance the first time i saw one, and getting a warranty period, and accessible spare parts up the ying-yang of course appeals to me.

But before blowing of my hard earned cash on this, to me quite expensive piece of machinery, i would like to know if it's worth the big buck$ ?
And how does it compare sonically to a high-end turntable of an older design/tec.? :scratch2:

In one of the reviews that i've read, one guy mentioned that the fitted Pro-Ject9c carbon-fibre tonearm appeared "flimsy" and could perhaps be woth an upgrade. Any comments on that?

Anyway, i'm hoping to get much broader and more objective input here, than i will from the salesguy: :blah: at the dealer.

In my very 'umble oninion, the RPM6 is a fabulous turntable and well worth every penny. I have heard it on several occasions and much prefer it to the equivalent Regas. It will comfortably outperform most vintage turntables, unless they were pretty high-end.

I am not aware of any big issues with the arm - whilst it isn't in the SME build quality league, all of the reviews i have read have praised both its design and value for money so perhaps this was a one-off?
