View Full Version : Motherf#$%*ers Be Trippin'
Ah yes, that's right. Motherfuckers Be Trippin', the latest release from the Supersuckers is out. Just got it today. The few tracks I've got to listen to so far are pretty good. Although it's not as hard and fast as their older stuff:( . It still rocks though. Definitely better than what is being passed around as rock these days. Also picked up the White Stripes new release Elephant. I liked their last cd, so I decided to take a chance on them again. Although I wouldn't really call them a rock band.
Johnny 05-05-2003, 08:01 PM Hey Kipp
I just read a review about these guys in Maxim, sounds like an interesting cd. Who would you compare these guys to ?
J
moondog 05-05-2003, 11:35 PM I love the Supersuckers. My buddy just picked up the new one also. Can't wait to hear it.
Johnny old buddy... You need some for sure! My favorite is probably "The Sacrilicious Sounds Of..."
Hard to compare them to anyone though really. You just have to hear it for yourself. The boys deffinately crank it on with some pretty funny tell-it-like-it-is lyrics as well. No pussy footin' around with these boys. They're hard core to the bone. (not for your dave matthews fan). ;)
Another good one that's somewhat similar is the good Rev. Horton Heat. Especially his early stuff. "Smoke "Em If You Got 'Em" is classic IMHO. It'll peel the paint right off your walls! :D
Moon
Johnny 05-06-2003, 09:40 AM Good enough for me :D I`ll pick it up this week.
Thanks
J
moondog 05-07-2003, 01:01 PM Johnny - After sampling some of the new Suckers I'd suggest you go for "The Sacrilicious Sounds Of..." OR "The Greatest Rock & Roll Band in the World" which is sort of a best of the earlier stuff.
The new one is actually pretty lame compared to those 2... IMHO.
Moon
Johnny 05-07-2003, 02:40 PM Thanks for the heads up. I`ll probably end up buying a few of their cd`s, if`n I like em` that is :D
Thanks
J
moondog 05-07-2003, 03:57 PM Johnny - Be forwarned... The Sucker's "Must've Been High" & "Must've Been Live" are both more country than rock. I have them & like them both, but you should probably start with some of the others I mentioned before.
A few more of their's...
Evil Powers of Rock n' Roll
The Smoke Of Hell
Never really cared for "La Mano Cornuda" though, (but that's just my opinion.)
Moon
Johnny,
The cd's Moon suggested are a good place to start. However, Don't forget about the Supersuckers first 3 cd releases: The Songs All Sound The Same, The Smoke Of Hell, and my personal favorite La Mano Cornuda. Can't go wrong with the Reverend Horton Heat either. The Full Custom Gospel Sounds Of is brilliant. Just saw him in concert Sun. April 27th in Cincinatti, awesome as always! Agreat opening act as well, The Legendary Shack Shakers. The lead singer was an absolute wild man! Oh yeah, you might try Zeke as well. Pick up Flat Tracker or Death Alley... not for thje faint of heart. Enjoy.
Johnny 05-08-2003, 07:44 PM Thanks guys, keep em` coming :D
I`ve actually heard Flat Tracker, IIRC they have a damn good guitar player(s). Going cd shopping this weekend.
Hey mOOn, the Gov`t Mule "Dose" has been spending quite a bit of time in the ol cd player. Cool stuff.
J

yup... the old mule's hard to kick... :p:
HEY! If you really want to scare your neighbors...
Pick up this one.
Johnny 05-09-2003, 06:45 PM Hey guys
Picked up The Evil Powers Of Rock And Roll and an EP with both the Supersuckers and Rev. Horton Heat, has "Caliente" and "400 Bucks" These were the only Supersuckers cds they had but I have a few more on order :D So far, I like. These guys have a nice punk edge to em` and "Dead Meat" is a total JAM !! Good guitar licks and nice fat bass playing. Gotta tell ya tho- I think Rev. Horton Heats "400 bucks" is the best Jam outta the bunch !! I`ll be picking some of his stuff up as well :D
Thanks guys, nothing better then finding good music you havent heard.
Cheers
J
moondog 05-09-2003, 09:10 PM :D So you'll be peeling paint this weekend I guess...
Have Fun.
Moonie
Johnny 05-10-2003, 06:16 PM Picked up The Rev. Horton Heat -Holy Roller today, figured it`d be a good one to start with, has 24 songs on it. I just started listening to, so far I like it. SixCats! 05-14-2003, 06:35 AM Hey hey Johnny,
You know...I have heard some time ago about the BLUE MAN group's CD being excellent. I am glad that you reminded me about them. Tis' a shame that your wife doen't enjoy THE REV.
My life loves em!
Kipp....I will have to check out the HELLACOPTERS as well...
Yar,yar...gar to try some Hell a cop ters! SixCats!
Oh...Supersuckers is on the list as well!
Johnny 05-14-2003, 09:01 AM Hey the Supersuckers are good, but if they were the pupil, The Rev. would be the master :D :D
Kipp and Six, y`all should check out Gov`t Mule if`n ya havent already. One very tight group. A good one and my personal favorite is Dose. ( mOOn turned me on to these guys )
Kipp, whats a good one from Flat Tracker ?
J
It's the name of a cd from Zeke. It's a blistering fast no holds barred punk extravaganza. The whole cd is only 17 minutes long! I saw them open for the Supersuckers in Baltimore a few years ago. Awesome! Other cd's of theirs you might like are, Kicked in the Teeth, and Death Alley. Blind Markie Feltchtone ( the lead singer/guitarist) smokes! If you already have the Supersuckers greatest hits cd( How The Supersuckers Became The Greatest Rock N Roll Band In The World) you can hear him do a cover of Hell City Hell. Actually, it's some of the Zeke and Supersuckers members together. They call themselves FSOB, ( Fucking Son Of a Bitch) great name.
Quickly, cause work beckons:(
If you guys like alt. country. Check out Slobberbone, they're great! Here's the ones I recommend
1. Crow Pot Pie- their 1st cd
2. Barrelchested
3. Everything You thought Was Right Was Wrong Today
Enjoy!
moondog 05-14-2003, 05:15 PM Can't forget the band that started the whole COW-PUNK thang...
JASON & THE SCORCHERS!!!
Another one...
WEBB WILDER!!!
I've got about everything those boys have ever done. (and love it!)
Moon
SixCats! 05-14-2003, 07:00 PM Oh oh oh...any of you guy familier with JUNIOR BROWN?
I have only heard a few of his more novelty songs but...
guys... this dude can really play the guitar! Not just any old guitar but a custom made dual neck weird looking AX to be sure! Can anyone recommend a good Jr.Brown CD? SixCats!
moondog 05-14-2003, 10:16 PM I've seen a funny-as-hell video by Junior, but I'm not too familiar with his records. I do recall that Mitch Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience actually played drums on some of his stuff. Thought that was pretty cool.
Moon
Oh yeah... YES he does play a funky guitar.
Johnny 05-15-2003, 08:58 AM Well then, no wonder they did`nt have any Flat Tracker at my local CD shop
I will check out some Zeke this weekend fer sure. I`m really digging this style of music, makes me wanna run out and buy an old 60`s Caddie convertable and cruise :D
J
Junior Brown is great! To say he has a style of his own, is an understatement. I have only seen him live once though :( . No doubt though, I will see him again. Johnny, I guess it is safe to assume by your avatar, that you're into motorcycles? So is Zeke. Especially older Japanese racers from the 60's and 70's.
By the way, that funky guitar Junior plays, is called the "guitsteel". IIRC, he makes them himself. Pretty cool.
Johnny 05-16-2003, 07:15 PM Picked up Zeke Death Alley today. Also picked up a Kyuss cd, Wretch, we`ll see. I looked for a Jason And The Scorchers cd but no dice, not much of a selection here in cow town usa. Heading to Madison tomorrow, maybe have better luck.
J
moondog 05-17-2003, 09:50 PM Well boys... Last night I got to hear the new Suckers CD in it's entirety & although after sampling a few tracks earlier in the week & not having much interest in it, I must say... "I dug it a lot!"
Although still not as good as some... It' a great party record that flows from one song to the other really nicely!!!
I now must recommend also!
