Saw a Carver A-220 at a pawn shop for $100. Does anyone know anything about it and is it worth buying?

Does anyone know anything about it and is it worth buying? bolly 04-02-2006, 10:29 AM bluebook says CARVER PWR, A-220 2-CHANNEL Manufacture Years: 1998 - Current Power: 110wpc MSRP: $600.00 USED: $236.00 JimmyNeutron 04-02-2006, 10:37 AM Beware. Although that is a Carver amplifier it is NOT the same type as the Carvers we all know and love - like the TFM series from the 80's. Carver is no longer in business, their doors have closed. Bob Carver sold the business to the Japs a couple of times in the past. He has not had controll of the Carver name for many years, and the subsequent products that the Carver company has released the last 10 years or so have been nothing but utter garbage. Go to the Carver forums to read more about the history of Carver and their closure. But back to the amp in question. I wouldn't pay $100.00 for anything Carver after 1995. But that's just me. EVBoy 04-02-2006, 11:11 AM Thanks for the input. Looks like I'll pass on it. JimmyNeutron 04-02-2006, 11:31 AM EVBOY, I don't want to discourage you from getting it. Do some research first and google the amp, see if you can find opinions from people who own, or have owned the amp. Jimmy |
