Went today to an old RCA repairmans house to look at what he thought was a Muntz color that he had, That turned out to be a Magnavox, However after talking to him I found out one of his friends that he used to work with at rca has a G-2000 and wants it out of the house!
So hopefully next week I will go and pick it up, Heck it is only 40 minutes away from me!
The first one was 425 miles! This one is practically in my back yard! And free! Go figure...

Hi Jack,
I'm always looking and ask a lot of questions I guess, Sometimes I seem to be able to get things that are rather hard to find.
After closing my shop I got a job at an Industrial electronics repair company, When I worked there, I had to find parts for and repair CNC equipment that had been obsolete for years. When someone would tell me that I wouldnt be able to find parts for that old equipment it made me look even harder.
Maybe that job helped me get more into "finding" Tv's and parts.

So this might have been covered before, but what's special about the 2000?

I am far from expert on these, But do know they were a limited run set that was very expensive, Supposedly only 2000 were made and the list was 2000.00 in 1969-70. Had electronic tuning, was solid state and was a remote set.

I'm thinking someone should start a Site for these sets to catalog the survivors, like the CT-100 and H840CK15 Westinghouse Sites... Anyone, anyone...

Having a few threads here devoted to such an endeavor might be a start, anyways.

As a loyal owner of a rca 2000,i will agree that the set needs it's own thread. as for what makes it special, as i said before, in 1969, the set was a very big leap forward in technology. from the all- electronic tuner( including fine tuning) to all solid-state circuitry, to the matrix crt, to high vlotage quadrupler, to a remote system that uses no motors to operate functions, but uses varying voltages, and mosfet -controlled"memory modules", and a DIGITAL LOGIC TUNER CONTROL SYSTEM using 7400 series ttl logic. Oh yes, and the cabinet, one look at the cabinet, especially with the doors closed, tells one that this is a special tv. Only 2000 of the $2000.00 sets were made, and they are VERY rare, indeed.

the rca technical manual for the ctc47 (the chassis in the 2000) describes the leap in technology as"comparable to the leap made by the ct-100"
