Ok, I know there is no such thing as perfect, although J-Lo`s butt comes awful close.

Which album, cd, do you think is closest ? An album you can listen to from start to finish, no filler, and is the best example of the group in their prime ?? I cant think of many, actually only two. I`ll post after I see some of y`alls picks.

Miles Davis' last album with John Coltrane [as a a band member] is not only the greatest Jazz album, it's one of the best albums in any genre. Very few albums cause me to not only see visuals, but feel them. K.O.B. does so with real passion and it happens VERY TIME I listen to it.

Hey all,
Wow, what a great thread! Just have to add my two cents...or three, or four, or.....
*Nirvana - Nevermind (can't believe no one else chose that yet!)
.....in fact, just about every album of theirs (with the exception of 'Unplugged' IMHO) was nearly 'perfect'.
*Butthole Surfers - Independent Worm Saloon - weird at its best!
*Pixies - any album - (hats off to Dave 2238b for reminding me!)
*Beck - Mellow Gold
*Skinny Puppy - Too Dark Park - ("...so, you thought Piper at the Gates of Dawn was 'trippy', did you?")
*Rage Against The Machine - self-titled - angry music for the masses!
*Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral - If you thought Johnny Cash wrote that great song 'Hurt', you owe it to yourself to check out this album!
>Also, Johnny, you got yerself some damn good picks there!
Paul's Boutique would definitely be near the top of the list for me, too!
Since rap seems to have been under-represented so far, I feel obliged to mention...
*Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back (or ITANOMTHUB as I prefer to abbreviate it)
*Run DMC - Raising Hell - the album that started the hiphop trend (for better or for worse! )
I'm sure there are lots of others, but we were only asked for one after all...

Zappa - "Hot Rats"

Minimal vocals, and for 1969, a real ear opener.

I was going to post the question "Is Who's Next the best Rock Album of all Time?".

I saw that it was on a couple of people's list. I just bought the 1995 extended digital remaster and I've been playing it A LOT!!! This record is much better than I remember it being in the '70s.

This record ROCKS!!!! I love "WIFE"!!

Enjoy,

I'm almost embarassed to post my favorites, although several have already been listed. Here goes nothing...

Seals & Crofts 'Diamond Girl'
Styx 'Kilroy Was Here'
Alison Krause 'New Favorite'
Willie Nelson 'Stardust'
Alice Kooper 'Killer'
Steppenwolf 'Monster'

Meatloaf 'Bat Out Of Hell'
Jethro Tull 'Aqualung'

Most of what I listen to beginning to end are various artists or greatest hits- not really germane to this thread. I'm sure as soon as I post this, I'll think of others...
