I'm sure you have seen the auction on ebay for the CA3000, BA5000, and the TU9900. Seller says they all look great but doesn't indicate the working order. They say the BA5000 hasn't been unpacked yet thus no photos.

Anyone here bidding on this ? I don't want to compete with someone here. Besides, I'm probably too old to pick the damn thing up!

BTW; BF, what do you think of the auction for the B-2102?

Please go gently on me as I'm a audio-newbie who is old.

Thanks,
Joe

Perhaps it would be wise to contact seller and ask for detailed writen statement about condition of each item, in case there is a dispute afterwards.

use template from classicaudio web site.

Maybe there is nothing fishy there but please bear in mind that :

1. the terms of payment are unusual

2. No pics of power amp> seller has not represented item for sale accurately.

3. seller has zero feedback and all of sudden sells the graal of vintage hi-fi.

"Shields up"

IMHO, this is stuff to be picked up, not shipped. Call seller and give him an offer he can't refuse.

A while ago NIB Sansui stuff was in sale in Vancouver, BC. While we thought wether it is dcam or not, smart shopper drove there and bought it all. THis could be the same thing.

I've heard good things about the B-2102, but power output is 200 wpc.

Dr No-No:

I checked the Ebay listings but didnt see anything regarding the auction you mentioned- is it still there? (perhaps I just overlooked it -> which is why I complained in my other post 'This is annoying'- as all those friggin' auctions for that same Sansui dvd player makes it more difficult to notice all the other more interesting Sansui items for sale.

I will check again on Ebay, but if you can post a Link to it here, or even the Auction listing #, that would be helpful- once I can see the Auction I can then better be able to tell you my thoughts on it- and I certainly wouldnt mind doing so- as those are all the flagship models from 1975-'77- power amp, preamp, and tuner.

The B-2101 is a 200W power amp from the mid- late 80's, and the B-2301 is 300W. Both models succeeded by the B-2102 and B-2302 of late 80's /early 90's (and same respective wattages).

Ok- Thanks for the link. Well, I see that the Auction has been cancelled- wonder why??? I am always interested to meet other BA-5000 Owners out there so I think I'll email him and I'll try and find out why he cancelled. Maybe someone in his local area made him a substantial $$ offer for the whole package- otherwise, thats alot of packing/shipping effort involved to sell them on Ebay. Just the BA-5000 itself is dangerous enough to give you a hernia! I wouldve been curious to see that Auction continue and how many bidders/ and final price for the whole package at Auctions end.

Wait a minute---- I just remembered: he said 170W in his ad. Unless thats a typo, then he has a BA-3000, not a BA-5000. The BA-3000 is a great amp but the BA-5000 is something altogether different in a class of its own. The BA-3000 is a "junior monster" but there can be only one amplifier that is THE MONSTER, and there is only one Sansui model that is: the BA-5000 :)

I had to downsize the photo above, but believe me Folks, THE MONSTER BA-5000 is something you wouldnt want to lift up by yourself for very long- and in this case, would be a situation where having our own burly yet always loveable, THOR be around to offer assistance would be greatly beneficial (unless you relish the thought of self-induced hernia) :)
