Toze, there is a comma there between trout and potatoes.

A

Here in Canada we BBQ. I never hear anyone say they are going to grill.Though once I took a cheese sandwich to the police station and had it grilled

A husband and his wife who have been married 20 years were doing some yard work. The man was working hard cleaning the BBQ grill while his wife was bending over, weeding flowers from the flower bed.

So the man says to his wife "Your rear end is almost as wide as this grill!" She ignores the remark.

Later that night while in bed, her husband starts to feel frisky. The wife calmly responds, "If you think I'm gonna fire up the grill for one little wiener, you are sadly mistaken."

In fact it is a pet peeve of mine. I hate when my friends invite me over for "BBQ" and server me grilled (instert food item here). Not that the grilled food tastes bad, its just not "BBQ" :nono: . My wife always begs me not to make a point of it but I just cannot keep my mouth shut. :D

Grilling - Hot and fast - direct heat

BBQ - Low and slow - indirect heat

Grilling is burgers, steaks and dogs. Usually done on a gas grill. The broiler in your oven will do the same thing.

BBQ is pulled pork, ribs, roasts, and on my cooker as we speak... 2 beer butt chickens. Should be done in 2 more hours. No gas, charcoal. Low and slow, babyyyy.

Can't you smell it...? :)

WTF, BBQ? ...one lost skill in BBQ is the fine art of the Spit. Whens the last time you seen two birds slowly roasting over charcoal on a truning spit? My Friends, THATS real roasted Chicken!

Down here we grill or cookout..........for burgers, hot dogs, etc.....hot and fast. However, BBQ is what somes off the grill or smoker. Not so much the process, but the end product. I think it's just what you call it depending where your from.....we use the term "grilling out" or "cookout" to cover about anything with fire/gas/etc.

OK, BBQ experts, help me understand this, please?

It seems like there's four kinds of BBQ:

1. Sauce is painted on while it's cooking over hot coals or a fire.
2. It starts in some vinegar based marinade, then gets cooked slowly.
3. It starts in some non-vinegar based marinade, then gets cooked medium.
4. It gets rubbed with some kind of spice mixture, then gets cooked medium.

What I don't understand is the controversy. Me, I like 'em all!
