I got these pair a long while back anyhow, I was reading the reviews on audioreview.com again and I'm a bit confused... people left comments about the speakers being heavy and one guy left a comment saying they had 10" woofers...

I don't know when mine was made but they're bookshelfs with a 1" polydome cell and 6.5" tweeters

The RS or "Reference Series" has been heavily recycled by Infinity over the years with about eight different series carrying the moniker that I am aware of and likely double that number have come to be. For the RS-10, there were in fact four different RS-10s -- three speakers and one subwoofer.

Your RS-10s sound like the 1982 version (http://www.infinity-classics.de/infinity/models/Reference-series-1+b-2-10+A+B-1981-86/Reference-Standard-9&10/body_rs_9_10.html):
Reference Standard 9 & 10

Introduced: 1982
Dimensions: RS 9: 45 x 30 x 25 cm
RS 10: 34 x 21 x 20 cm

Suggested for amplifiers with: RS 9: 20-75 Watts per channel
RS 10: 15-65 Watts per channel

Crossover frequencies: 3000 Hz

The other RS-10 that you mention reading reviews of is the early '90s version (http://www.infinitysystems.com/homeaudio/product_support.aspx?ProdId=RS10BLKL&Submit=Submit).
