Since Kam will be bringing wings I thought I would bring 20 pounds Premium Fuzzy's Carolina BBQ. No need to take orders, I'm just going to bring it along and share with the group. All we will need are some burger buns and a couple of chafers.

I do hope you Damyankees & Canucks and all other similarly deprived species will get to try this- there is bbq & then there is Carolina Barbecue....Kinda like the difference between "Lightning Bug" & "Lightning"....another reminder of the Innate Superiority of the South....<grin>

Yeh, they do that pretty good in Carolina too, but they never confuse it with barbecuing.

That would be the difference. In the South, BBQ is a noun. The North uses it as a verb.
Nobody in N. Carolina would say, "let's barbeque." It would be, "Let's smoke a pig."
There are also about five different styles of BBQ in N. Carolina. To say that you like one over another can start a fight. So just smile and nod when you taste it.

Excellent point, what I'm bringing is Fuzzy's "lexington" or tomato based BBQ. Fuzzy's has been doing BBQ in Rockingham county for over 50 years.......but that said, it's only one of a couple of distinct BBQ's from N. Carolina

In SC, where I was raised, the mustard based version rules, esp. on poultry.
If you ever have a chance to try Maurices' Piggy Park sauce, by all means do so. It is fanfriggin'tastic. :thmbsp:
Or make your own, by my "secret recipe":
2 cups prepared mustard
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup honey
1 medium Vidalia or other sweet onion, minced
2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ground white pepper
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 tsp cayenne pepper
Combine ingredients in sauce pan and simmer, stirring frequently, until onions and garlic are tender.
Great on pork & chicken.
Oh yeah!

Any of you boys ever bother to come visit yer ol' Unca Sandy, if you're REAL good, I MIGHT be disposed to take you to the Ridgewood near Piney Flats, Tennessee...They have some of the best BBQ, beef AND pork, you ever put in yr mouth. Their fries are to die for, too-actual potato strips fried to a golden brown. Place is a "hole-in-the-wall' along the side of the road, very unassuming looking. You wonder why such a small place has a HUGE parking lot...Wait till about 6.30 PM on a Sat nite & you'll find out...

Sandy reminded me of this joint we have down here called Smokey Creek BBQ.
The first time anybody took me there, I was convinced they were dragging me off to kill me, and wanted to do it where nobody'd ever find the body but the buzzards. The directions to this extablishment honestly include the words; "Now after you leave the paved road"... It's over a mile of rutted goat trail till you pull up in front of this huge barn with a parking lot big enough to hold the entire audience of a '71 WHO concert.
Great food, atmosphere like the Ryman Auditorium in 1939, and the worlds worst country house band (by the name of - I swear to God - The Can't Hardly Playboys). It's a cool place, and the catfish and BBQ are very good.

I'm only chiming in because I just received another case of some BBQ I discovered passing through South Carolina - Maurice's Carolina Gold BBQ really rocks on grilled chicken, ribs, etc... very unique (at least for me).

Is 20 #'s going to be enough :scratch2:.....when I get in on Friday AM, I have to talk to the hotel kitchen and see about a chafer or two and the use of an oven. Wings and BBQ mmmmmm  The other thing is are there any hot sauce fans in the crowd? I have some great "home brew" hot sauce that I plan on bringing along. I have 6 cases of pint jars of this stuff so if anyone would like I could being a case along and pass them on to yooz guys. BTW, it's pretty hot, made from a mixture of Habenero & Chipotle.

When I lived in Georgia,it seemed like the best barbeque joints werent actually joints, but big barrel bbq grills set up on the side of the road next to the woods.Whenever my wife and I were road tripping, the car would skid to a full dead stop when Id see the guy in overalls and huge sides of ribs.

Unfortunately, I was banned from attending after last year. Apparently, putting a blooming onion on my head and table-dancing to Johnny-B-Good at Outback Steakhouse (much to the horror of BrianB, Gilbert Yeung, and reyneman) was a little over the top. And later that evening, single-handedly leaving 214 empty beer bottles in Grumpy's listening room didn't help my case much.

Me neither. It's for nostalgic reasons. When I was at Ft. Campbell we would mix it with a bit of grape juice. Called it "purple jesus". The next day somebody would ask "Jesus, what did we drink last night"? 190 proof baby!
