The old 60's war drama, "Combat", and of course "Victory at Sea". The theme to "American Bandstand" (the high point of Barry Manilow's career), and "The Tonight Show" theme song during Johnny Carson's reign. I have the full version on a Doc Severinsen cd, and it absolutely kicks ass. Shit, almost forgot "The Honeymooner's".

Millerdog,

I am 50, and made MSgt THE FIRST TIME, in 1989. Made TSgt again in 1995, and made MSgt the SECOND time in 1997. I had fun doing all of it as you can imagine.

All those 50's western themes can be found on two or three cd's. There is the original "Pops Round-Up" by the Boston Pops,
and a couple re-makes by Telarc called "Round-Up" and "Happy Trails". I own all three and they are mandatory items for anybody who enjoyed those shows and their themes. On "Happy Trails", the closer is actually Roy Rogers singing Happy Trails with The Cincinnati Pops. It'll make you cry.

Take care with the Telarc's! There are actual gunshots during The Rifleman theme that will unseat your woofs and send them into orbit, as well as Frankie Laine shouting at the end of Rawhide that will do the same. I hate to re-iterate, but if you grew up with those shows, these cd's MUST be part of your collection.

They're creepy and they're kookey.
Mysterious and spookey.
They're altogether ookey.
The Addams Family.

The house is a museum.
When people come to see'em.
They really are a scre-am.
The Addams Family.

So get a witch's shawl on.
A broomstick you can crawl on.
We're going to pay a call on.

Toasted, I bought the Telarc " Round Up" disc when it first came out. You're right about the gunshots opening The Rifleman.

Duane Eddy does a great job with " Peter Gunn" and " The Ballard of Paladin" on his album " Twang Thang."

Doc,

Amen brother!

Perhaps we can get my wife, the former Theresa Talamonti, to copy "Happy Trails" for you on our computer. You want that in your collection. They do a wicked "Ghost Riders in the Sky" on that one.

About 5 years ago, I was doing a regular stint on Sat & Sun nights on a AM radio station down here in South Jersey, playing "all the hits of the 30's, 40's and 50's" as we called it. Yes, we were "the station that remembered". Anyhow, I closed my show with Roy singing "Happy Trails".

I used the name George Short on the air (I'm vertically challenged, and it was easy for me to remember), and my 4 hour show was called "Short Circuits". ARF- ARF!

Hey,
How about WKRP?
Star Trek has to be up there as well (except, of course, for Enterprise...what were they thinking? ).
Also, not only the theme to, but almost all the music from Spiderman! Super Hep Jazz action goin' on there!

I'll date myself but the Henry Mancini theme songs were great.
Someone already mentioned Peter Gunn and Mr. Lucky but what about Route 66? Remember that show? Two guys traveling in the 63 Vette solving all the problems along Route 66.
