A friend of mine brought over his yamaha R-V922 so we could hear it on some good speakers(hpm 100)with the surround off and using the preamp outs to run my sub,it sounded surprisingly good! So I am looking for something as good or better,I need preamp outs to use my sub(a single subout just isn't enough)it also would need to be new enough that I can get a cd changer that will use the same remote. I am thinking a 90's prologic or stereo receiver,the reason I am not looking at digital 5.1 is because I feel they just drive treb and mid and I want to really use the hpm's. I don't know the yamaha series at all! Should I be looking at R-v922 or higher #? a lower #? or maybe rx?
