for introducing me to Bushmill 16 year old single malt :thmbsp: I took it next door for some after fest wind down time and it was perfect. Even Echowars, a devout anti-scotch guy liked it and proceeded to drink with me. It is absolutely marvilous stuff. I owe you big time.
From their website:
Bushmills Malt 16 Year Old is a rare single malt Irish whiskey. With "Three Wood" maturation and finishing, a malt of distinction emerges, with a fullness of depth and flavour rarely found. This exceptional whiskey is matured for 16 years or more in a combination of American bourbon barrels and Spanish Oloroso sherry butts.
The bourbon barrels infuse delicate honey, mild toasted wood and vanilla notes, while the sherry wood lends the malt a rich, fruity sweetness and a distinct nutty character. These whiskeys are then vatted together and married for several months in large old port pipes. This imparts a subtle finishing touch of sweet wine, and allows all flavour elements to gently mellow together, giving Bushmills Malt 16 Year Old its depth, balance and complexity.

Yeah, Ernie, thanks again for risking life 'n' limb to come pick me & Lauriann up at the bush-league version of Hades, the Detroit Airport.

And people wonder why the Irish like to drink?
Echo's 'anti-Scotch' sentiment is intact, and unsullied.
It was my distinct pleasure to be able to introduce you to something new for you to enjoy. Glad you and Glenn liked it, Wards.

I heartily endorse the positive sentiment regarding that libation.
I'd also like to add big thank you too Ernie, that Sleeman's Cream Ale was just excellent!
Thanks for the many rounds of introduction :thmbsp:

Thanks Ernie for a large sampling of the Bushmills. Real smooth and much more flavorful that the 'generic' Bushmills I'm more used to.
Ok, it's not in there with my favorite single-malt scotch's but I really enjoyed it, going to have to buy a bottle to keep around.

$79.95 CDN for a 750mL bottle I sure hope the stuff is wonderful. :) I wonder if this Scotch is available for considerably less stateside?

Not Scotch, Pro, Irish single malt. I got it at the Duty-Free, as I was going into the States, and it was for "personal consumption". I brought another back with me, under my exemption. A little less dear than my favourite single malt Scotch. I like to serve it to friends who shudder at the notion of single malt whiskies. First sip, the eyebrows go up. Second sip, a nod, and a closer look at the glass. Third sip, "This is very nice". By then, they start to 'get it'.
Bill, its relationship to 'bar' (blended) Bushmills is analogous to the relationship between blended Scotch and our favourite Single Malt Scotch Whiskies. No comparison. Life is too short to waste on bad whisky. I'm glad you liked it.

Sandy, Sandy, down boy. At the Country Oven of Berkley, you had Vernors Ginger Ale. Very nice, and one of my favourite local sodas.
Sleeman's Cream Ale is a product of one of Ontario's finest family-run breweries.
Both delicious beverages, but not interchangeable.
You are right, though, the restaurant was a great place.

I've seen pics of some of the rooms in Wards' house. He can own me, if he wants, as long as he lets me live there. Altecs, Clearaudio, Bottlehead amps, DIY masterpieces, year-round golf...

Anytime you can make it down here you are welcome at my place. There are something like two dozen courses here from municipal to resort and many inbetween.
