What would be the best type of grease to use to conduct heat from the transistors to the heat sink. Original was white in color.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thanks. Donkey! 04-28-2006, 03:55 PM Just use some regular bird shit. It's called bird shit for a reason ya know :smoke: qboneus 04-28-2006, 04:08 PM I've contemplated using a thermal compound for computers called artic silver, a silver bearing compound that is supposed to have better heat transfer properties but have never done it, only thought about it.. anyone else? Tal EchoWars 04-28-2006, 04:39 PM Lots of studies on the subject, and the findings show that properly applied cheap-azz white silicone grease works 95% as well as the expensive Arctic Silver (or similar) stuff on CPU's. The heat density in an output transistor is nowhere near what it is on a CPU die, so the additional expense is wasted IMHO. Additionally, the thick Arctic Silver stuff is very difficult to apply evenly over a large area, like an output transistor. Strawman 04-28-2006, 05:07 PM That's good to know. Currently, I've been using Shin-Etsu Microsi Silicone compund made for P-4 CPU's. I basically get it free though. Nakdoc 04-30-2006, 03:03 PM check out MCMinone.com 20-300 or 20-400 |
