Went to the GF's daughter final school concert of the year tonight and they played some african music, I really enjoyed it. It got me thinking of how much I like Paul Simon's Graceland. So can anyone steer me in the direction of some African music, upbeat stuff too please ;)

Suggestion - Ladysmith Black Mambazo - I saw them in concert at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) and they were amazing. Also try Johnny Clegg - he had a hit quite a few years ago.
I am sure there are others - many others

Try some King Sunny Ade and His African Beats. He's a Nigerian who made a splash in the early 80s' over here. In fact, I saw him at a Bluesfest at Navy Pier in Chicago. Polyrhythmic stuff with Hawaiian guitars. It'll get you bouncin' a bit; just like your avatar. I've got his "Ajoo" LP and think "Juju Music" is around here somewhere too.

You can't go wrong with Ali Farka Toure. He's a guitarist from Mali. He and Ry Cooder did a cd together called "Talking Timbuktu". He also has a cd called "The River." I have them and both are well worth the price of admission.
Thanks guys they are fixing my net problems tommorow so I'll try to get some then.
