The wife and I picked up the Sony today, Man that thing is heavy!
The manual says it weighs in at 510 lbs!
We managed to get it into my van and back to our house without incident though.
I am very impressed with the cabinet especially after 20 years of use! It still looks like new.
From what the manual says, It came with a video rack also, But the set was purchased as a "floor model" and all that they got was the remote and manual.

now..how are you going to get it into your upstairs bedroom..??

Hey captainmoody where did you find that lovely set? What is the model number? I'm not a vintage TV guy but that would make a lovely piece of furniture.

It is a KV-3000, One of the real high end tv's sony made.
The lady told me it is Tamo Ash, I am assuming some sort of Japanese Ash tree.
Hey! It works now! I replaced a 630 ma fuse in the power supply and it came up with high voltage this time, Tube looks pretty good still, But looks like a cap has dried up in the vert section as there is some foldover at top of picture.
This should be an easy one to get going, Those motorized doors are cool!
Oh, And it seems to have a beefy amp in it too, Not like what I am used to hearing as far as a tv.
The set is currently residing in my van which is parked in the garage. No way to currently bring it into the house because of it's size and weight! Not to mention the fact that we will be moving in a few months also....

Here's the brass tag, Much like my G-2000, But only 1000 of these Sony sets were made, Compared to 2000 of the RCA's. Mine is #229/1000 Manufactured Jan of 1982

Great set!!! I remember my Uncle wanting one (and he was a Zenith dealer) 10k was quite a bit for a set in the early 80's tho.(heck...even now) I remember seeing one listed on eBay that was said to be from Ronald Reagans ranch, so you know the people that were able to snatch up the 1000 that were made had some $$$$$.
