Hey everybody. I just got a used Denon DP-23F turntablr from a pawn shop for $40 buck. I brought it home and powered it up. Then a problem arose. The START, STOP, and LIFT buttons do not work. THe other buttons, SPEED and SIZE do work. I was not able to test out REPEAT. Anyone out there to help a newbie please? Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you guys.

Could this be because the tonearm is missing the Balance Weight?

I just dug my 23f out too and I am experiencing the same issues. I bought this new and yes mine still has the counterweight. I was going to take it to The Needle Doctor for service but if anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it also. Thank you, Brad.

I pressed this little tab behind the tonearm where I guess the weight sits and it seemed to to return when I hit STOP.

I got tinkering with the counterweight and all seem good, Jigga try moving your counterweight.

The problem is that when I bought this from the pawn shop, it didnt come with the weight. I didnt know at the time it had one until I saw pics of it. I might have to order it from online. Does it glue onto the tonearm or screw in?

So it just screws in there? That freaking weight is $30 cheapest online.

Take it back to the pawn shop.

anyone have an idea what might cause a platter to runaway when you hit play...it seems to have no limit to speed at all...any help would be great.
