Picked these up yesterday for $30. They are in great condition. The man said they sound excellent. I haven't hooked them up yet but am looking forward to it. It's nice to find a pair of speakers that don't need a refoam.

Nice find. The thing that I particulary like about that model is the clarity. I favor all of the quantum series, however, the crossover network on the QB seems to do a particulary nice job. No muddiness at all. Please let us know your thoughts on the sound once you listen to them.

Thanks for the response. I'll post my impressions when I have a chance to hook them up.

No, I never said nor implied that Kencat. I was complimenting him on the finding the QB's and complimenting their sound. Just like when you compliment someone on a job well done, does not mean that everyone else did a poor job.

Good day there Vito,
your wording caught me the wrong way....sounded like you were saying all the other Quantum models were "muddy" compared to the Qb's, which I think I would disagree with. Anyway, I see your intent now and all is ok.
You have to be careful with us Infinity fanatics-types ......don't take to well to any bashing you know :D ;)
Check for PM on your wish for QLS-1's. Hopefully not too late.
Keep the posts coming bud. :thmbsp:

Ha Ha, understood Kencat. I am the same way about Infinities and Phase Linear Power amps as well. As a matter of fact, I never met an Infinity that I did not want to take home.
Concerning the PM, I am very grateful for it. I have not been to Bobby's site since I found this one and see that I need to go back to monitoring it. I sent the seller an Email as well as another in Oakland to see what can be done. I might need to add onto the house soon, if I do not watch my purchases but, I seem incurable.
Additionally, you may be hero of the year in that I found an active crossover box there for sale which I need for my IIA's since the power supply died. I am waiting to hear back from that seller on that item as well. If I get it, I must send you a beer or something in celebration, especially since I also just read your thread on active crossovers, which I will reread after I get some sleep.
Best regards,
Vito

Sure hope you can snag those big-uns.
The active crossover thing is an interesting topic. I'm not quite getting all the theory involved yet, and I wonder if there isn't a lot of misinformation floating around on the subject as well. Need to study many different sources and pick what seems right. And personal experimentation can't hurt either eh? BOOM, well maybe it can hurt the ole wallet :sigh:

I finally got a chance to hook them up and play them. They sound awesome. I did see on one woofer where the surround has separated about an inch long from the cone. I'll slap some glue on that and they'll be perfect.

separated - that can't be good.
Glad you are enjoying them. Are they the best in the house?

I haven't done any comparisons yet. I really like the KLH 6. Working on refoaming 2 woofers on my Allison One's. I'll compare then. Right now, I'd say they could very well be #1.
