From time to time I transfer LP's to CD's for friends. In exchange for doing this they give me the LP's. Tom, a friend of mine, gave me some LP's to record to CD for him + the rest of his vinyl collection. I had a chance yesterday to go thru the rest of the LP's to see what I had (which are listed below). I was very pleased to find a few that filled some holes in my collection. Along with some others that will give me some great listening pleasure.

One that I was not expecting was the soundtrack from Superman II. While going thru all of them to check the condition (all of which were in excellent shape). I pulled the Superman LP out and what did I find? The LP has the Superman logo pressed into the vinyl. This suprised me as much as the first 45 LP I ever saw. I placed a picture of it below for those that have not seen it. I believe I will hang this one on the wall. Something that looks that good should not stay hidden. Well I am boring myself so I will stop. Just thought I would share w/you my latest additions.

Tubular Bells is a true test of a stereo system from the stylus to the speakers.

After listening to Mongrel I was blown away. IMHO it was one of Seger’s best. I especially liked “Highway Child” and “Big River”. Firefall is on my play list for today. But I think the first play today will be the Tubular Bells. Bully sparked my curiosity with his statement - is a true test of a stereo system from the stylus to the speakers.. Should be a very good day, playing hooky again. Twice in one week, what a rebel am I :smoke:

That impressed image reminds me of Styx "Paradise Theater" I think. I saw 2 of these albums last week at a flea market and had never seen that done with an album. Now I wish I had picked one of them up just for the picture it has. The albums scratched beyond what I will play.

For $6.00 yesterday, I picked up an original release of Steely Dan's Gaucho and a beautiful 1972 Mercury original release of Rod Stewart's Never a Dull Moment.

Rick Wakeman should have stopped recording after his 2nd solo LP. Everything subsequent to that album IMHO is trash. I got Lizstomania and used it for a frisbee of sorts - the worst album I ever partly listened to and the others are barely tolerable.

In the 70s pompousness by many artists grew by leaps and bounds and while at the time it seemed cool, in retrospect it is almost a joke. Wakeman is not alone in this regard.

It's nice to know someone other than me has a Triumph album.

The Yes album is great and you should like Bluesbreakers as it was an important record back in its day and an original pressing is in short supply, that is if you like English blues.

Nice stuff for free and enjoy.

Let me start this post by saying that you were dead on Bully about the Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells LP. It should have a preface with Dirty Harry saying "Are you ready for what your about to hear - Well are ya punk!". I truly was not, it answered as many questions about my main system as it did create new ones. The composition was just outstanding. And after listening to it on both of my main TT's, TD150 & TD165, I come to the conslusion that I have them both tuned in quite well for me.

Now for the flip side of this little listening adventure. I NEED DIFFERENT SPEAKERS!!!! Don't get me wrong, I like my setup quite well. I just believe that I need to take the next step. The LP pushed my speakers to a lot of different levels on the db scale. I feel like I need to have more seperation and control over the hi/lo output. I guess this need can be obtained from the knowledge I have aquired here on AK and other sources about bi-wiring and bi-amping. I'll just have to give one or the other a try. Probably bi-wiring since that is way cheaper than bi-amping.

The Blues Breakers LP was super, fantastic, great, succulent, a listening dream. The combo of Mayall & Clapton seemed to be made in heaven. I have listened to a lot of Clapton, but on this LP (IMHO) it seems he hits one of his many plateau's of greatness. And Mayall is no slouch either when it comes to playing the blues.

Firefall did not click for me (the name that is) until the first 5-6 seconds into Just remember I love you. They are a super band and one that will fit into my collection quite nicely. Especially liked the opening track - So Long.
So Long!
