Hey everyone,
I know that there are quite a few Brubeck fans here and their knowledge runs deep. I have a few of his albums and today I picked up 3 more. I have questions about a couple of them. One that I picked up is " Dave Brubeck Quartet Paul Desmond Quartet Cal Tjader - at a perfume counter - purple moon - jazz latino " on Crown records # CLP 5288 . I couldn't find it in my Goldmine catalog - any info?
The second one is " Time out The Dave Brubeck Quartet" Columbia CL 1397, red and black six eyes, I believe this is the original mono release because the jacket is different from the one I have in stereo, Time out is in small blue letters in the upper left hand corner of the jacket. Am I all wet here? Or is this one kinda rare? I couldnt find any pictures of it in my google search. I'm no expert on jazz or Brubeck, but Im willing to learn. Hit me with what you got.
Thanks,
Kim

I have a few lp's on Crown. It is like they issued material the main labels were not interested in. One I remember is a Perez Prado album. Quit laughing.

I have a couple of the Crown releases, but I don't listen to them much. I find the sound quality to be not as good as my couple of columbia LPs.

AFAIK, the original "Time Out" is a 6-eye and the jacket doesn't say "Featuring 'Take Five'" on the front. Mine is one of the later pressings.

I think the reason that the Crown releases aren't in Goldmine is b/c they aren't worth over $20 - It says in the front of my issue that they only include jazz records worth over that much.
