I found it, just a few moments ago, the reason I come here, the reason I have a small apartment but large speakers, the reason for collecting speakers and stereo equipment, at the risk of being tossed to the curb by my wife... Sorry honey, but I just got a pair of HPM-100's, and the Cewin Vega's are getting refoamed soon as well...
That elusive combination, when it falls into place, of source and sound, placement and mood, that can take something as ancient as music, and take you to an ethereal place, using just your ears as transportation....
I found the sweet spot a few moments ago, I've been trying out some different speaker combos, and I stacked a pair of infinity Qa's on top of a pair of Mach two's as a lark, and put it disc three from the Led Zep box set, and was pleasantly suprised by what came out of the boxes...
So I figured I'd try something more challenging, and I put my favorite cd in, Aja from Steely Dan, And I'm completely blown away!!! I've heard this disc a thousand times, but never this good, it's spooky almost. I can almost smell Donald fagan's breath (eewww) and see the crumbs in Walter Becker's beard...
I found it.... when it's right, it can't be wrong. I'm back to my asian pear martini and the sweet spot... Rock On!
