I started using pandora and found that it really makes it easy to get to know other artist that you may not know existed. Since you get to create a preference/profile station, pandora will search the large database and keep playing similar music of your preference. In the few days I used it, I found 6 different blues performers I had no idea even existed. What is really cool is that if you like the song you can click on it and it will take you to amazon to that particular CD. I like it!

I'm a fan also. Listen to it daily.

I put in Therion just to see if it knew it and it did. It did pick Les Dudeck
as a match to play and then I closed the window quickly. That's all. :)

I have created several stations. It could not find many bands I asked for but it was nothing mainstream.

Since much of the time it does not play what you ask for, but songs or groups like it, be careful what you ask for or you will be clicking the "I don't like this song" all day.

All in all a very cool site to find artists you were not aware of. Another cool feature is that you can get to your stations from anywhere.

They haven't done death metal in years except live in concert.

Nice, mostly Viking lore related songs often with a choir these days. :music:

It does not like the classics or opera singers.

It does not like the classics or opera singers.

Unfortunately classical music has yet to be classified by Pandora.

My Led Zeppelin radio station is most rockin'.

I'm in love. Best thing since sliced bread. Here are my shared stations:

Organica (http://www.pandora.com/?sc=sh3579348435456373) -- Chris Isaak, Black Heart Procession, Lhasa, Calexico, et al

Electro Industrial (http://www.pandora.com/?sc=sh3582479466615157) -- Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, et al -- needs work, I'm trying to "steer" it clear of metal crossover stuff, but every time I do that, it gets a little too "synthpop". Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just have a separate station. This one is the one that's the most a "work in progress".

eMetal (http://www.pandora.com/?sc=sh152864856796942709) -- misnamed, it's more hard pop with heavy electronica elements along the lines of Garbage, Curve, Stabbing Westward, et al.

Eccentrica (http://www.pandora.com/?sc=sh152868455979536757) -- I have no idea where this one is going, it's not as varied as I'd like to make it. It started with Legendary Pink Dots and Talk Talk, told me to add Bjork so I did, added David Sylvian and it got really mellow, may have to take him back out.

Ambient Electronica (http://www.pandora.com/?sc=sh152865982078374261) -- Namlook, Schulze, very little Eno -- I listen to this one the most during my work day.

Feel free to share yours with me.

I'm working on a station for Tentoze just as an exercise, to see if I can, I'll post it later.

EDIT: Tentoze Free Radio (http://www.pandora.com/?sc=sh154676263548998005)

Of course, with my luck, he'll end up liking "Organica" more, because "Tentoze" will be too much like wandering through his own collection.

I only wish Pandora offered higher bitrate streams than 128k. Or at least a premium stream for people who aren't using Ipods and Wave Radios. 128k sounds so flat and treble-less for rock music.

Yes, I like it and I too have discovered artists I never knew about. My only complaint is excessive repetition. Maybe that's because they're copying the way real radio stations have been programmed to play the same songs over and over ad nauseum.

My favorite station is Sarah Vaughan. I was surprised that it could not find Lorez Alexandria in its data base. I use Pandora often.

I use it at work when I get tired of all the jam band stuff on SugarMegs. It is sooo addictive, too. I've heard so much "new old stuff" that I then have to run out and buy the CDs of some of my new discoveries! My CD collection is starting to get out of hand (like everything else in this hobby)! :music:

I just started using it yesterday because I finally moved to DSL, and this is so much better than broadcast FM it's not funny. I'm hearing stuff I never knew existed. No #^!#(^& commercials. And I'm shocked that so much of it is available at Wal-Mart music downloads. If I'm not careful I'll go broke fast... so my local library will no doubt be getting lots of interlibrary loan requests from me! :D

...because I finally moved to DSL...

Welcome to the dark side. Your wife and family will helplessly watch as your internet time goes up and your cognitive functions go down the tubes at a lighting quick 768Kbps. :boring: Now get crackin' you only have 5000+ posts to catch up to the leader. Become a 'Post whore'! With DSL, you'll be in the lead in no time. Wow, look at all the opportunities High Speed internet will open up for you. JK, you'll never go back to dial up. After having cable, even DSL is painfully slow for me. Welcome to DSL Land, Baby!:zoom::nutz:

Let's just say that I need to get my PC connected to my stereo rig, because after listening to Pandora for less than a week, broadcast FM is a joke, and my Yamaha tuner's continued existence is now in jeopardy. And after six solid years of dialup, I'm just enjoyin' this like you wouldn't believe!

I've told you about this many moons ago. It's fantastic!!

Of course, not everybody reads all my posts or they's fall asleep.
