Long Island, that is. That's where the new job is that I've already been doing for a month, and that's where I'm gonna be living come this weekend. I'm packing up the last of my stuff tonight (including this PC), and will be meeting it all at the new place after work some time Friday.
Pix of the new place and its surroundings to follow - you will enjoy.

Head on down to Greenport. Hit The Rhum Line for a meal, or a drink. :D

Good luck on The Island, and in Patchogue. The only thing I remember about that town was the main drag that ran thru it was Waverly Ave.

My family lived on "the Island" for many years (Cold Spring Harbor, Roslyn, Huntington, East Meadow, Albertson, Mineola, etc.), and I had to travel there quite a bit for work via the Throgs Neck Bridge. Some nice places there and some not-so-nice. Cold Spring Harbor is still pretty nice as is the eastern tip (Orient Point). You'll get used to the LIE (Long Island Expressway), The Northern and Southern State, Jericho Turnpike, 25A (Northern Boulevard), etc....Jones Beach!
And one of the most interesting town names...Hicksville, which usually has a sign with the missing first letter...hence..."icksville".
Ahh...LonnG Gieland...eh...fo-get oh 'bout it!

Oh, I'm already used to the LIE. I avoid it as much as I can. And if Nassau County exec Tom Suozzi gets his way, I'll avoid it altogether since he's proposing LIE tolls during rush hour! Fortunately the job and I are nice and close to the Vets, which hasn't been bad for me the couple of times I've tried it.
Patchogue seems really nice - I like it more and more every time I drive through. Can't wait to see what Fire Island is like. I can walk to the Davis Park Ferry from my place. Anyone been there?

Fire Island is amazing! Did share houses out there for several summers. When you're out there, it's hard to beleive that you're still in NY. Just make sure you catch the last ferry back...otherwise you're sleeping on the beach.
