Just picked up one of these and need to find the manuals either print or pdf and one of the rubber reel holders.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I can send you the .pdf manual.
If it's a 2300, it has locking reel spindles.........

maybe not. I have a deck labeled as an A-2300 (not an A-2300S, just A-2300). However, this is the same machine more commonly known as the A-1250. The easiest way to tell is that it has the Fast-Pause-Play level switch on the front panel below the stop and directoinal buttons.

This machine does not have integral reel hold downs in the spindles, it uses the rubber press on reel hold downs.

Sorry, I don't have the manuals for it though.

I believe it is the A-2300 not A-2300S. I'll know for sure when it arrives.

Any suggestions for good places to get tapes, blank and pre-recorded?

Hi,

There is quite a selection on Ebay for blank and pre-recorded tapes in various music catagories.

And Tapeworld.com ,and Totalmedia.com, has new blank tape. :thmbsp:

Enjoy,
JOhn. :music:

Any suggestions on where I can find the reel holders. TEAC no longer carries them.

Deck arrived today and looks nice. Not the best packing job that I've ever seen but far from the worse.

This is my first RTR deck, and Wordman hasn't gotten around to e-mailing me the manual, so bear with me if I don't use the correct terms. I also don't have any tapes yet so sound testing will have to wait until I get them and find a retainer.

Unit powers up and meter lights up. Move lever to play and hit direction arrow. Nothing happens. When I lift the tension arm?? I can hear a hum from inside the unit but the reel capstains do not turn. I just realized I forgot to check and see if anything was moving in the head area will pull it out and check that tommorrow.

Does this sound like belt problems or is there a sensor I'm not hitting?

Also I guess I also need to find a service manual PDF.

Power up and lift the take-up tension arm. You will hear a "click" as the microswitch closes but notice whether the capstan shaft starts turning. If it doesn't, you've got a belt or motor problem. To further test while holding the take-up tension arm up, press the "play" button. The pinch roller wil close to the capstan shaft with authority and the take-up and rewind spindles will begin turning in opposite directions. This is your most basic test of functionality. These are old machines and most have lubrication issues so don't be surprised if mechanical functions are very slow or not at all. Good luck!

Packratt, call me tomorrow, and I will give you a tape and blank reel to test with. I will be in Ottawa this weekend.

Hopefully, you still have my phone number.

I think you are thinking about the other packrat (the one with 1 t). I'm in the US in Virginia.

No, I guess they were lost in the e-mail. I did get your e-mail this morning that you had sent them. Unfortunately I do not have MS Publisher and don't have a viewer for that.

Well some good news. I was doing something wrong. Tried it tonight and had play and fast to the right with both speeds. To the left it only had fast, no play.

Found the reel holders and empty reels. Now I just need to find a owners manual so I can figure out what I'm doing.
