The band that NOBODY seems to be aware of is Earth. This is Black Sabbath as a boogie band in 1969. No gloomy/doomy stuff. There is video because I have seen clips, but I find little or no info related to the bands existance. Anybody got any input/info/whatnot on where to find anything by this band. I'm not joking about Black Sabbath. Earth consisted of the original Black Sabbath members including John "Ossie" Osborne. Yes "Ossie" is the way his name is spelled inside the gatefold version of the self titled first album Black Sabbath. I think the non gatefold version lists him as simply John Osborne.

Now he is called Ozzie Osbourne with a U. Just a little R&R trivia.....

Earth anyone? Hey Moondog! You still out there??

i don't think Earth has anything to do with ozzie or BS other than having had a basic inspiration by the original early BS sound. them and Sunn O))))) seem to be the carriers of ambient metal drone....

Check again my man. I take it your Earth is about 37 years after the fact. It is a long time fact that Black Sabbath was named Earth prior to their first studio release. I was trying to find out if anyone knew of any bootleg or "out of the vault" type stuff by Earth (from 1969). Any other info is welcome.

A Bit Of Finger more from Allmusic.com

The group was formed by four teenage friends from Aston, near Birmingham, England: Anthony "Tony" Iommi (b. Feb 19, 1948), guitar; William "Bill" Ward (b. May 5, 1948), drums; John "Ozzy" Osbourne (b. Dec 3, 1948), vocals; and Terence "Geezer" Butler (b. Jul 17, 1949), bass. They originally called their jazz-blues band Polka Tulk, later renaming themselves Earth, and they played extensively in Europe. In early 1969, they decided to change their name again when they found that they were being mistaken for another group called Earth. Butler had written a song that took its title from a novel by occult writer Dennis Wheatley, Black Sabbath, and the group adopted it as their name as well.
