Some cat from Taiwan (not so subtle reference to Ziggy Stardust singing about "some cat from Japan") wants to purchase one of my smaller eBay items BIN. The camera part is worth about $500.00. This cat has great feedback and will Paypal immediately. I have blocked all bids from overseas. I have called the UPS Store (they are useless and hint that they will charge more than online prices) and looked at UPS online. Can anyone tell me that shipping to Taiwan will not be a royal headache? Are there duties to pay? Customs? Do they allow camera parts to be shipped to Taiwan? What about DHL? Any advice?

I sold and shipped a camera lens to a guy in Hong Kong several weeks ago. I was reluctant, but he was persuasive and willing to pay the extra shipping. It took a little while for his payment to arrive, but it was a check from Bank of America, so no problems there. I shipped USPS and the shipping was less than $20, simple form to declare contents and value, and all went smoothly.

Don't use the UPS Store unless the UPS terminal is a long way away. The prices online that UPS shows are for its terminals. The UPS Stores charge more.
I haven't shipped to Taiwan but have had good luck shipping overseas using USPS. You should at least check them out.

I've had good luck with USPS. UPS was too darn complicated (and the lady at the store was like a spider - she wanted me to drop on in).
