I have a Denon DVM 3700 and have a chance to buy a Denon DVM 1800 which is newer I believe. I like the sound of the 3700 as I use it for CD playback when I want uninterupted music.
Is the 1800 better being a newer machine? I don't want to buy it if it's not an upgrade from what I have. The 3700 is HDCD capable and makes even Redbook CD's sound better than a standard CD player. Thank you for your help.

The 1800 is newer but I don't think it's better. Why do you want to upgrade? Is there something wrong with the 3700? With Denon usually the higher the number the better quality the deck. Check out these links to Denon's acrhives for more info.

Thank you for your reply. I guess what I ultimately want is a great sounding cd player. I have a Sony CDP 111 ES that is a 15.00 wonder and the Denon. The reason being our local museum needs a muli-disc DVD player and I thought if the 1800 had better sound I'd buy it and give them the 3700.
The guy wants 160.00 for it and is from your area (sort of ). Thanks again for the information. After reading it I see where the 3700 should have better sound. I don't know much about the technology involved. I just stumble along trying to get a grip on it :D
