View Full Version : Anyone recap/tinker with Fisher XP-55B speakers?

Got a pair on a whim -my first Fisher XP speakers. I have read that most listeners find the top end lacking and I agree. Is there anything I can do to improve them (recapping, etc.) or should I just leave them alone?

I suspect that recapping certainly wouldn't hurt. You may also find that they play best with a different receiver/preamp/amp combination. I have several sets of Fisher speakers and find that they are quite sensitive to the input. I have a pair of recapped XP-60S speakers that sound pretty good when powered by a Sansui G-6000, but they really sound good when driven by a Sherwood 7100A. Part of that is due to the "tube" sound of the 7100A, but I suspect that Fisher designed its speakers to be played with tube or "tube-like equipment.
