Here is a sweet heart. I was hoping one would come up for auction one of these days so I could see what they would really go for. This one looks to be pristine and should fetch a good buck. Happy bidding boys!!

But I can't help but wonder on this guys ad. He sais this is the G-9000DB model. Ok I give up. How does he know that? What does the DB stand for? I e mailed the guy but he doesn't seem to want to answer or he is out of town etc. :dunno:

Well WW in Sansui speak the DB stands for Dolby but there is no G-9000DB. The 8080 and 9090 receivers came in both dolby and non dolby guise.

Agreed. it does me me wonder where the "db" came from in this case - when he's got the name, an model no and everything else staring him right in the face.

Maybe all those dial and meter lights kinda blinded him momentarily.:p:

damn, these never show up over here...

Actually, Sansui did make both a G-9000 and G-9000DB as well as overseas version G-901 & G-901DB.

I am the proud owner of a g-9000db but have seen the ones that arent...not too sure what the exact difference is but i know mine says db right on the front after the words g-9000...and both types employ dolby...and the original price the db model is about 100 dallars more...hope this helps....but i would like to know the diff.....thnx...

Hmm okay I stand corrected. That ebay auction is clearly not a DB model. You can see the model nomenclature clearly in the frontal pic. I think the Db refers to FM Dolby not Dolby B and/or C for cassette or RtR.

I wish i could read the face of that reciever better to read the switches....and see if it says "dolby system" on the upper right corner of the analog tuner face...cant seem to tell.....mine does have a switch on the right side called"dolby fm decoder"...not too sure what it does..
