Here's what I need......
I need a box of some kind that can bring in a video signal from a BNC connector, and an audio signal from an RCA jack, and combine them to one cable out with a standard TV cable jack.
Of course I can DIY the connectors, but what would I need to combine the audio/video signal?

I don't know of a dedicated box to do this, but you could adapt the BNC to RCA, then put both RCA's into a VCR and take the cable output from there. You might also try
Markertek.com they have tons of video adaptors and specialty boxes. But the VCR would work as well I'd think.

Combine into what format? If you're talking about composite video and standard line-level audio as input, to a signal like that delivered by the cable company, what you need is an RF modulator. Here's an example: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=180-315 Radio Shack has, or at least used to have, a similar device. You would need a BNC-to-RCA adapter, but those are easy to find (again, Radio Shack has them).

You might be able to do this with your new HT receiver or Preamp providing it has video switching but as far as cable goes I dont know. . .Unless you go through a VCR or unless your receiver has an F-Connector. . .

Well if it is composite video you need an RF modulator and DIY the connections. If it is already and RF video signal you need an RF modulator and DIY the connectors. Taking video of either format and then combining it with audio, that's what a RF quawackenabox does. :)

Use an RF modulator, and use a BNC-to-F adaptor for the video.

It would seem from your description that you're wanting to output an RF signal for some reason. You might want to spell out the particular situation. But,if you have a stereo VCR handy, you could input your audio and video signals to it and then use the RF coax out on ch 3 or ch 4.You's would need the BNC-RCA adaptor as stated above.

Caution about RF modulators (built into a VCR, or separate): they very seldom (maybe never) have stereo audio output.

Here's what I'm up to......
I have to convert a U-Matic VTR signal to my computer on a standard cable jack on my TV card so that I can go from VTR to DVD. The VTR does not have a combined output, only seperate audio and video. Stereo isn't a concern.
